What does MIT mean in Overwatch 2?
If you’ve ever played Overwatch or any modern online shooter, you’re probably familiar with most of the scoreboard stats in Overwatch 2. The “MIT” stat isn’t used in most games though. shot and is new. at Overwatch.
What is MIT in Overwatch 2? In short, it means “mitigated damage”
You might think this is just a new term for the old “Damage Blocked” stat in the original Overwatch, but it’s actually more complicated than that. While this old stat tracked how much damage you stopped just by activating shields, MIT tells you how much damage you’ve stopped using shields and other mitigation abilities – like Ana’s Nano Boost or Orisa’s Fortify abilities.
Why is MIT important in Overwatch 2?
MIT is important because it is an indicator of how well you are doing while playing certain roles, especially as a Tank. The more damage you mitigate, the more damage you’ve taken for your team while hoping you don’t die as much in the process. This helps secure objectives and prevents the opposing team from charging their Ultimates causing damage to your team.
In general, if you’re playing a Tank Hero you should aim to get as many MITs as possible on this scoreboard. Your role is to protect your team by taking damage for them anyway, so you should use all of your mitigation abilities to help out.
However, a good MIT is not exclusive to tanks, as some damage dealers and supports also have abilities that mitigate damage. Ana, for example, is a support that can mitigate damage with her Nano Boost Ultimate. Since it’s not a regular ability that charges quickly, however, it won’t have as high an MIT stat as Orisa should when using her Fortify ability.
As always, teamwork and playing your role correctly is more important than a person’s stats in Overwatch 2. There’s no point in having a high MIT if you’re just mitigating damage away from it. goal and you’re not helping your team secure it – so balance your stats while working with your team too!
