Regional phenomena is one of the main quests you will unlock shortly after leaving the Great Sky Island at the start of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.
It tasks you with traveling across the kingdom of Hyrule to help four of the races – Rito, Zora, Goron and Gerudo – in overcoming the dangers they face in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. This will involve exploring four temples and defeating the boss lurking inside.
While you are free to experience this story however you choose, there is a best temple order for Regional Phenomena quest in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, which we’ve covered below.
Hey! Listen! Although we’ve done our best to avoid spoiling the story, this guide contains small spoilers.

Best temple order: All temples from the Regional Phenomena quest in Zelda Tears of the Kingdom listed
While Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom gives you the freedom to tackle temples in any order you choose, there is a preferred path to follow in the Regional Phenomena quest.
Here’s the path we recommend you follow through the Regional Phenomena story, as well as the individual quests you need to start reaching the temple:
- Wind Temple – Start ‘Tulin from Rito Village’ in Rito Village
- Water Temple – start ‘Sidon of the Zora’ in Zora’s Domain
- Fire Temple – start ‘Yunobo of Goron City’ in Goron City
- Temple of Lighting – start ‘Riju from Gerudo Town’ in Gerudo Town
Remember – this is our recommended order, if you prefer to visit the Gerudo first, do it! No matter which route you take, you still need to start the quest, like Riju from Gerudo Town, before you can enter the temple.
Although you can also skip these quests and head to the final fight…
You should also continue to complete shrines while you complete the Regional Phenomena quest, in order to increase Link’s heart and stamina. Both of these are essential to your survival in Hyrule, and if you find a temple a little too difficult, take the time to complete a few shrines.
You need four Light of Blessing to upgrade your heart meter or stamina wheel, and if you’re having trouble finding shrines, check out our shrine locations guide.
Tears of the Kingdom has finally arrived and our Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom walkthrough will guide you in your quest. Your adventure begins on the Great Sky Island where you will need to complete Ukouh Shrine, Gutanbac Shrine, In-Isa Shrine and Nachoyah Shrine for Link’s new abilities. This will allow you to complete the main quest To Hyrule Kingdom, find Captain Hoz, and get the Paraglider. We also have guides on how to access the sky, how to get the Archaic Tunic, how to beat the Flux Construct I, Amiibo unlocks, and how to tame horses.
Temple locations in Zelda Tears of the Kingdom
There are four temples to complete in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom – the Temple of Wind, Temple of Water, Temple of Fire and Temple of Lighting.
As of this writing, we have only visited two of these temples and you can find their locations below:
Wind temple location
The Temple of the Wind is located in the Sky Archipelago of West Hebra – the sky islands floating above the Rospro Pass region of Hyrule. To access this temple, you must start and follow the Rito’s Tulin quest.
Water temple location
The Water Temple is in the Sky Archipelago of Lanayru, which are the Sky Islands floating around the Zorana Highlands. However, you cannot access this temple right away, as you must first start the Zora’s Sidon quest.

How to start the Regional Phenomena quest in Zelda Tears of the Kingdom
If you’re following the main Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom questline, you’ll start the Regional Phenomena quest shortly after you arrive in Hyrule.
After completing your adventure on the Great Sky Island, you need to head to Lookout Landing where Purah will task you with finding Captain Hoz and when you return she will give you the paraglider.
It’s at this point that Purah will let you know what’s been going on in Hyrule since Link’s disappearance, and in doing so will start the Regional Phenomena quest. By doing so, she will mark the four places where you can start the individual quests related to regional phenomena, such as Zora’s Sidon.
You can now travel across Hyrule and save the day for the various races that call it home! Unless you want to fight the final boss right away of course….
Good luck completing the Regional Phenomena quest and, if you want to know more about Link’s adventure, visit our Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom walkthrough.
