Pokemon scarlet and purple continues to have some very epic competitive matches at the highest level.
The 7-year-old who was crowned champion was the prelude to the rookie who beat a 25-time champion in the final to close out the North American International. We also saw a surprising Talonflame with no items, and even a Jumpluff had a starring role. And although the real protagonist of the tournaments was Melenaleteo, he was recently defeated by another ghost.
And now the community is wondering if any of the riskier strategies but effective at the moment could have a drastic change.
Another use of Rare Space in Pokémon Scarlet and Purple
recently a little girl only 7 years old surprised us by perfectly executing a Weird Space strategy with Oranguru there charcoal. His performance in the official tournament made the audience rise with emotion. And as if that weren’t enough, his plan gave him victory and the title of North American International Pokémon Champion
But a Pokémon Scarlet and Purple player has decided to tweak this strategy with a modification that he thinks is underrated.
In a new Reddit post, he described how Rare Space can work better with Camerupt instead of Torkoal. This Pokemon rarely appeared in competition, so the community assumed it wasn’t as viable.
However, in his video demonstrated how Camerupt it can be used to defeat powerful Pokemon in the meta, such as Fluttermane and Gyarados. And all this in a single round thanks to the support of Oranguru.
You can see the result below:

Is it better to use Camerupt than Torkoal?
This change in strategy led many competitive pokemon enthusiasts wondering if it’s better to run Camerupt or Torkoal in rare space.
The answer probably doesn’t surprise you, and that is that each can stand out in certain circumstances.
On this occasion, we saw that Oranguru creates a strange space so that Camerupt can use its powerful Burst attack, which has a power of 150 and an accuracy of 100 (the damage will be greater the less health the opponent has). On top of that, thanks to Oranguru’s signature move mandate, Camerupt can use its attack twice in the same turn.
This combination was so devastating that even a Gyarados, who is Fire-type resistant due to his Water-type, couldn’t hold his own.
Torkoal is also very powerful and is a favorite choice for many, but it does have a downside, which is that it needs sunny weather to deal much more damage. This can pair well with your Pokémon Paradox, as it activates Paleosynthesis skill.
However, it can also benefit enemies, like a powerful Fluttermane that you no longer need to carry. empower energy. Instead, you can use another item to increase your power and take advantage of the enemy’s sunny weather. It is also possible that the opponent will end up winning the weather duel and Torkoal will end up sad in the rain with a base 85 special attack.
Camerupt, on the other hand, doesn’t need sunny weather, as it has a base special attack of 105. Also, it doesn’t need to worry about the weather. Instead, he can take advantage of the Solid Rock ability which reduces the damage of super powerful moves.
This would reduce its quadruple weakness to Water attacks, in case his enemies manage to attack. added to a smart teracrystallizationthis can become a real nuisance within Trick Room.
Some players have argued that Torkoal’s damage in sunny weather might be higher. The player claimed it wasn’t really important. since it was able to defeat a resistant meta Pokemon in a single turn anyway. Why do you need more damage?
We’ll have to wait and see if this strategy ends up making the jump to competitive Pokémon Scarlet and Purple.
