After so many years, Dead Island 2 is already with us and we are sure that many of you will enjoy it as soon as you can get your hands on it. It’s not for less, because Dambuster Studios has finally managed to bring a real great game despite everything, as you can read in our analysis. Although for a real Zombosslayer like our protagonists it will not be very difficult to move among the hordes of these incompetent undead, there will be another moment when we could use other advice.
For this reason, in an easy to digest article, we give you 7 key and spoiler-free tips, in order to better face what awaits you. Don’t worry, we won’t reveal anything to you, but as you progress in the adventure you will appreciate knowing these things in advance, here they are:
Praise yourselves Slayer
At first, they will let us choose between the 6 available protagonists: Jacob, Amy, Dani, Carla, Bruno and Ryan. It is true that each of them has basic statistics that will partly define our way of dealing with zombies, but practically these differences are barely noticeable when we play, except for their unique cards, which will give them a talent particular. For that, our recommendation is above all that you choose the one you prefer. Yes, it seems a bit stupid decision, but our protagonist talks a lot, and the tone of the conversations will be according to his personality. Believe me, it’s more fun to play this way, especially knowing that we won’t be able to change our choice throughout the game. Personally, I had a great time with Dani and Jacob, the two I got to play with, but they’re not all the same…that’s the caveat.
the economy is important
It will be necessary to have money for all the improvements that we will have to make to our weapons or to repair them. It is true that there is a moderate amount of items to collect in order to use them to craft or upgrade, which we highly recommend you do. Collect all you can, but above all, even if you don’t care about a certain weapon you see on the ground, grab it if you have the location, because when they are sold at the merchant, they will bring you almost as much money as any side mission can bring us. This is undoubtedly the best way to quickly improve our economy. And believe me, upgrading weapons or matching their level to ours to increase their damage costs money.
You shouldn’t miss the side quests
The problem with some The side missions of Dead Island 2 is that, directly, they do not appear if you do not look for thems. Only some of the questions that will appear on our radar could lead us there. Some of them may not be very elaborate, but in general they will show us new characters, they will reward us with new weapons or maps and above all, they will force us to go through parts that we would surely not do pay attention to our “main path”. We assure you that it is worth it, because some of them will make a difference with your perception of the game. If you only stick to the main ones, it will surely look like another more guided adventure that will be fun, but Nothing in particular.
Side arms, limbs, long arms, head
If you have noticed some videos, at some point firearms take on special importance in our arsenal, allowing us to face a horde of zombies with the safety of keeping our distance. We’ll be very limited on ammo, so we recommend taking clean shots to the head, except with the shotgun, which does increased damage and is more interesting to do on the body so it hits the most possible bullets. But to do it up close, even if you do a little more head damage, it is better to hit the ends, deactivate them as soon as possible. If we cut off their leg, they will not be able to walk, but with one arm less, their attack capacity will not be diminished, but they will not be able to catch us, a rather tedious moment in which we will waste precious time to keep attacking. .
Healing Skills vs Damage Skills
Our favorite Slayer will have the possibility to choose between being able to dodge the zombies with a dash or block their blows, giving us the possibility of parrying, certain tactics that we must know how to learn, but there will be many times when our weapon will reign over these actions defensive, with the maxim that a good offense is the best defense. So when there’s a mob it’s very possible that you end up taking a good hit, either through area damage or direct damage, so we recommend using the ability cards that provide healing when we deal damage
Always have a fuse handy
There are many hidden parts throughout the game that are protected by a fuseless electrical panel. Put one on it and it will pop open like magic. But where to get them? At any of the merchants, you can buy a maximum of 3 units from them. The advice is simple: always take this maximum with you so that you don’t leave any of these hidden places behind. Maybe you will find this special weapon to help you out of a mess.
Have you lost your weapon? There is no problem
If we press the left trigger, we can throw the weapon at our enemies. Obviously doing it, for example, with a knife does us a lot more damage this way, but after an encounter of chaos and viscera it is easy to lose sight of it. But don’t worry if you can’t find it, because in safe places we can find it in the lost and found section of our closet. Believe me, someone is sure to lose and if not, maybe you will voluntarily release it because you want to change it to another and you have a full inventory. It is very useful to be aware of this!
