Summary
- No Man’s Sky’s Adrift Expedition is available to download for free for existing players this week.
- Travelers must adapt their survival strategies in this desolate galaxy, which lacks the usual support systems such as space stations, trading posts, and alien traders.
- The unique Iron Vulture spaceship is the star of a variety of unique and exclusive rewards for those who successfully complete this 13th expedition of No Man’s Sky.
Xbox and Game Pass travelers in No Man’s Sky have already celebrated 2024 well, with the release of the Orbital Update, which invited all Xbox players to try the game for free, and Omega, which introduced the ability to customize starships and overhaul space stations for the first time since launch. As we approach our 8th anniversary this summer, we’re excited to launch our 13th community expedition, Adrift. It will be available to Xbox players later this week.
No Man’s Sky’s Expeditions provide an opportunity for the entire community to come together in a specific location in the universe, which is therefore always full of travelers tackling the expedition’s unique, time-limited challenges.
But what is unique is that the Adrift expedition left the galaxy. There is no sign of life anywhere – no aliens, no space stations, none of the usual networks of shops and buildings.
Although you all wake up on the same planet (the desolate, worm-infested Lapezuk), you are not together in the usual sense. Communication is hampered by static, and the boundaries between your individual realities are thickened.
Even the normally bustling Space Anomaly is eerily quiet, without the usual support of merchants and traders. In this deserted universe, you must use your wits and adapt your approach just to survive. Self-reliance is more important than ever.
The Adrift Expedition is a completely new way to experience No Man’s Sky and a chance to meditate on the darkness of space. When the world around us is a constant stream of noise and commotion, it offers us a quiet sanctuary. Will you find in it a soothing respite or an eerie and unsettling emptiness?
No matter how you personally approach the Adrift expedition, there are as always exclusive and collectible rewards for willing adventurers, including the gnawing Scuttler companion, a supply of starship camouflage paint, a ghostly frigate, and the unique Iron Vulture starship.
Adrift begins later this week and will run for approximately seven weeks. We have a lot more planned for the summer, so Xbox players should keep an eye out for more updates.
