Today is the worldwide launch of Age of Mythology: Retold and we couldn’t be more excited. 22 years after the original game became a legend, this project has been a labor of love for everyone involved. We are so passionate about the game, the potential of mythology for epic stories, and the chaos you can cause when armed with divine powers.
We’re very grateful to both the established and new players who have played so far. Today we’re opening the game to everyone and can’t wait to see your adventures. As we celebrate this moment, we want to hear from you. Share your stories, your memories, and what you’d like to see us change and balance as we continue to develop the game. We’re listening.

New at Age of Mythology: Retold, and are unsure where to start? Here’s a quick overview to help you get started where you feel most comfortable!
First steps
If you have never played Age of Mythology The best place to start is the in-game tutorial, which you can access via the ‘Campaigns‘ Option in the main menu, then the ‘Tutorials‘ button. In this scenario, the narrator walks you through the basics of interacting with Age of Mythology: Retold; You’ll learn skills like selecting and controlling your units, entering battle, and other important tips and tricks to get you started!
Join a campaign
If you want to immerse yourself in the exciting stories that Age of Mythology: Retold‘The Fall of Trident’ The campaign is the perfect introduction. Not only do you have the opportunity to expand and develop your skills, but you also follow Arkantos and his unlikely allies on their quest to thwart the world-shattering plans of the Cyclops Gargarensis.
Just make sure you start with ‘.The Fall of the Trident campaign before continuing with the sequel story, which is available in “The New Atlantis” Campaign!
Try a battle
If you want to test yourself as quickly as possible, compete against the AI in a “Skirmish” game! Simply click the “Skirmish” button in the main menu, choose your pantheon, the difficulty level of the AI you want to play against, the map you want to play on, and you’re ready to go!
Compete against others in multiplayer mode
Want to compete against other human players? Select the Multiplayer button from the main menu, then click the Quick Play or Ranked button to join the queue and start searching for another human player to compete against!
Which pantheon should you choose?
If you’re not sure which of the four pantheons you want to start with, go to the Learn tab in the main menu where you’ll find an introductory video on the Greek, Egyptian, Norse, and Atlantean pantheons.
What’s new for Retold?
Not your first time in the incredible world of Age of Mythology? There are loads of new features and additions to discover. Use your God powers multiple times, but at the cost of favor. Experiment with new Nordic military units, the Hirdman and the Godi. Enjoy our comprehensive rebalancing of units, technologies and abilities. Enter the Age of Wonders, upgrade your Myth units and recharge your God powers almost instantly, all at a fraction of the cost.
What is included in the Premium Edition?
Then those of you who have purchased the Premium Edition can experiment with the new main god Freyr and his four new minor gods. Or try your hand at the new mythical battle.Reginleif’s Rally‘ in the campaign menu!
