The developer 11 bit studios Survival game The Alters has been delayed in the first quarter of 2025. It will be available on Xbox Series and PC via Steam, Epic Games Store, GOG and Microsoft Store, as well as via Game Pass.
Reportedly, “the production schedule for the Alters was very tight,” the president of 11 bit studiosPrzemyslaw Marszal, in a press release. “We weren’t sure if the developers would have enough time to complete all the work with the quality we all expect. “After so many years of production, the risk of the game having flaws is no longer necessary for us.”
Inspired by the acclaimed title This War of Mine, The Alters immerses players in a fast-paced battle for survival. After crashing on a desolate planet with a burning star, Jan must avoid deadly conditions by sheltering in a state-of-the-art mobile base.
The only problem? It’s supposed to be operated by a trained team and it’s only January.
Fortunately, fate changes with the discovery of Rapidium, a mysterious substance unique to this dangerous world. Interacting with the quantum computer aboard the mobile base allows Jan to manipulate fundamental decisions from his past (by creating alternate versions of himself known as Quirks) that have the potential to change everything. Alters are indispensable allies, possessing diverse skill sets essential to repairing bases, sustaining life, crafting essential tools, and mining valuable resources.
However, they are also much more than just working robots. Each functions as a conscious being, with unique emotions and goals and even a hint of existential doubt. While this potentially opens the door to chaos, their collective goal remains the same: survive, escape, and do it all themselves.
