As I’m eagerly spending Season Points earned during the Spring Event on Star Gem Tickets so I can win an N-Bunny Suit from the latest SG Scratchcard collection, I can’t help but think of all the great content coming for Fantasy Star Online 2 New Genesis. This game continues to evolve, with new features, abilities, quests, and more stuffed into the 2022 content roadmap. April 6th is just one stop on the journey, with a list of things worthy of further consideration; a level cap incre ase (to 45), new photon arts for weapons and the introduction of compound techniques, new ranks for combat sectors, a new DOLLS-inspired weapon series, some long-awaited quality of life features and the list goes on. More force
What’s better than eliminating DOLLS? Do it More quickly by shooting at them with even higher firepower. And if you haven’t had the luck (or wealth) of catching a relic and haven’t saved up your photon scales to improve your Cinque weapon’s potential, you can still increase your combat effectiveness by leveling up a few levels. That shouldn’t be too hard, as there’s a new round of limited quests and a new ranking of combat sectors, as well as a new DOLLS-inspired 5-star rarity weapon series. Inspired by the look of DOLLS, the Kukuhroziat weapon series (the weapons are much easier to use than their name suggests) has unique weapon potential that will come in handy for future game content. Oh, and did I mention there’s a color variant form?
More skill
Provided you are adept at performing Photon Arts or successfully unleashing techniques, you can dispatch DOLLS with greater finesse. ARKS Instructors have been hard at work refining new photon arts for all weapons, and developing compound techniques for those who can use photons directly. I’ve been raining down on my enemies as a gunner for a while (ie with the PA Aimless Rain), but with Infinite Ricochet coming out, I may be spraying that with Photon Bullets soon. Or I switch to the Force class and combine elements to blast baddies with barantsion or some other compound technique. However, since you can wield all weapons and play as any class with the same character, I’ll probably do both. Heck, I might even try out the Fighter class and slice and dice with Twin Daggers so I can use the Limber Figure Photon Art because nothing says danger quite like a whirlwind of blades. And an area of effect ability is especially helpful since there are also new enemies called equalizer enemies. With the ability to defensively buff nearby enemies, it’s a good idea to turn fire on them – and there’s no better way to do that than with a powerful new photon art or technique!
Quiet!
PSE bursts are just one of my favorite things about NGS, because nothing says enemy panic like being beamed down by a horde of enemies because you’re just destroying them too quickly. If you have played PSO2 then you know the real joy of hearing Cross Burst or One More what would be a signal second PSE Burst event occurs where you can happily keep slaughtering enemies and reaping loot and EXP. I am pleased to say that the DOLLS by NGS employ these field tactics – and you’ll be up to your ears in front of enemies after the April 6 update. You can really take advantage of this new development by farming PSE Bursts in the new Rank 3 Combat Sectors, also included in this update.
Simple adventure
The above are just some of the new content included in this update, but there are some other changes coming as well. The community asked for an easier way to recruit party members and Sega delivered with the party recruitment system. Recruit players from the same room, using the communications menu to set your group’s purpose and requirements to join. Others can tell you’re recruiting by the special icon that appears over your character, and then they can select the appropriate option from Nearby Characters in the Communications menu. Not only that, but for those who just want to capture a picturesque moment while exploring, there’s now a photo room feature to get rid of photo-bombing DOLLS and capture the perfect picture. You can even adjust the time of day or the weather to suit your artistic vision. Perhaps most notable for content creators, this update includes a streamer mode that disables chat while sharing your screen. For phashionistas there is now the option to show or hide your undergarments. So if you want to accessorize skintight basewear but only have full coverage innerwear, your fashion snafu won’t stand out.
