Baldur’s Gate 3 1.0 is fast approaching its long-awaited release, and developer Larian Studios has revealed some exciting news about this RPG. In addition to making adjustments to its release plans, the studio introduced a new class, detailed the level cap and expanded the game’s plot. But that’s not all, more details on the Xbox Series X version /S were also shared.
Earlier this year, Larian Studios announced Baldur’s Gate 3 for PS5 and assured that it would not be a console exclusive, citing technical difficulties as the reason for not having officially announced the Xbox Series X / S version. In a recent interview with IGNSwen Vincke, Creative Director and Founder of Larian Studios, spoke about the launch of Baldur’s Gate 3 on Xbox and revealed that the development team hopes to release the game this year for Xbox Series X/S.

“Our ambition is to have it ready for this yearsaid Vincke. “Our teams have been working on this for some time and are just as frustrated that they are not quite there yet. I hope the players understand, it’s a reality of development. It exists. It’s not necessarily what you want, but it’s there.”
“We want to finish this game. It’s ready. It must be put on the market. We want players to play it. We want as many players as possible to enjoy it. Therefore, it is in our interest to release it on all platforms. We do our best, but we don’t want to compromise. We want to make sure that when you hold it in your hands, you’re like, “Wow, that’s amazing!” I want to play it with my friends in multiplayer.’”
Elsewhere in the interview, Vincke explained that if Larian had followed his the original intention of simultaneous release For Baldur’s Gate 3 across all platforms with full parity, posting it would have been delayed again.
“If we were looking for full parity across all platforms, we would have to wait for I don’t know how long to be ready,” he said. “That’s why It’s important that we release it now on PCrelease it when it’s ready on PS5 and release it when it’s ready on Xbox.”
“It’s not exclusive. You can play it. It’s just a matter of patience. It’s really only a matter of time.”
During the same interview, Vincke gave more details about the technical difficulties that Larian encountered with the release of Baldur’s Gate 3 on Xbox, mentioning that Properly optimizing split-screen capabilities for the Xbox Series S’s more limited hardware has been a hurdle.Although Larian is working hard to resolve these issues, with support from Microsoft in the process.
