In Coffee Talk Tokyo, players become baristas again and have interesting conversations in the night cafe.
Coffee Talk Tokyo, the sequel to 2020’s Coffee Talk and 2023’s Coffee Talk Episode 2: Hibiscus & Butterfly, will be released to fans in 2025 on PC via Steam, PlayStation 5, Xbox One (X|S compatible), and Nintendo Switch.
Revealed during Nintendo’s Indie World showcase, Coffee Talk Tokyo is the next installment in the popular Coffee Talk series of visual novel games set in an alternate near future where humans and fantastical beings come together.
The player takes on the role of the mysterious barista who offers a listening ear, gentle advice and serves a selection of delicious, handcrafted warm beverages.
Coffee Talk Tokyo takes players to an entirely new – but strangely familiar – nighttime cafe, this time on a Tokyo back street. Featuring a cast of new characters (and a familiar face or two), Coffee Talk Tokyo will introduce fans to new themes and storylines.
Once again, the player takes on the role of the barista, taking drink orders from customers such as Kenji, a traditional Kappa salaryman approaching retirement, Vin, the barista’s assistant who struggles with the daily consequences of a past disaster, and Ayame, a lively ghost trying to move on with his (after)life.
In addition to the new customers, Coffee Talk Tokyo will also feature a new soundtrack, again composed by Andrew “AJ” Jeremy, the composer of the previous two Coffee Talk games.
In addition, Anna Winterstein, co-author of Coffee Talk: Hibiscus and Butterfly, and Kimitaka Ogawa, the Japanese translator of the two Coffee Talk games, return and are now part of the writing team.
Additionally, players can take their latte art to the next level with the new sprinkle stencils and engage with some familiar characters in the improved Tomodachill in-game social media app.
