Berlin Braves Capsule Collection now available in The Yard in EA SPORTS Madden NFL 22.
Electronic Arts and the Berlin Braves unveil their EA SPORTS Madden NFL 22 Capsule Collection, available now at The Yard. Driven by a love of sport and a drive to inspire young people, the Berlin sports club has designed this exclusive in-game collection that represents its values and the German capital.
The capsule collection represents everything the Berlin Braves stand for: a vibrant, colorful mix of show and flash with a twist that encourages love and inclusivity. The collection will be available to players at The Yard in front of the iconic Brandenburg Gate, a symbol of division and unity that reflects the history of the Berlin Braves’ hometown.
For the founder of the Berlin Braves, Joey Elgersma, the Braves are not just a normal sports club, but a platform where people can meet and exchange ideas about films, design, fashion and music – all while exercising together and to get fit.
Elgersma says, “We are extremely proud to be working with EA SPORTS on this capsule collection and br inging the Braves to EA SPORTS Madden NFL 22. We hope this collection will inspire many kids in Germany and show them that while we’re not an American football team, our passion and drive to do something we love is what led us to become a part of EA SPORTS Madden NFL 22 are.”
The name Berlin Braves and the connection to US sports are rooted in Berlin’s history. Elgersma was doing research at Berlin-Tempelhof airfield and came across a very old Berlin Braves US Air Force logo on an abandoned basketball court. In the 1950s, Tempelhof Airfield became rich in American culture and sports programs quickly sprang up.
This cornerstone project began in 1954 and resulted in the Air Force Base hosting varsity teams in many sports, from marathons to baseball, basketball, American football and more. Many of them competed and represented the Luftwaffe under the Berlin Braves name.
The Berlin Braves Madden NFL 22 Capsule Collection will be available on February 25, 2022 at The Yard Vanity Store and Ultimate Team Store.
