Activision Blizzard CEO Bobby Kotick speaks up and addresses his staff on the FTC and Microsoft acquisition case.
After Phil Spencer and Brad Smith have already commented on the US decision in the case of the FTC lawsuit, Bobby Kotick CEO of Activision Blizzard has now also spoken out.
Activision Blizzard CEO Bobby Kotick sent the following email to his employees on Tuesday:
“Today a US federal judge ruled in our favor, dismissing the Federal Trade Commission’s attempt to block our merger with Microsoft.”
“We are grateful to the court for the way this case was handled and for the well-considered decision. The US joins the 38 countries that have approved our merger. These decisions are based on facts and data that show our merger is good for players and competition in the industry.”
“We are optimistic that today’s decision paves the way to full regulatory approvals in other jurisdictions, and we stand ready to work with UK regulators to address any remaining concerns so our merger can be completed quickly.”
“We will continue to update you on our progress. Thank you for everything you do for our players, for our company and for each other. “
“With gratitude, Bobby.”
It was only officially announced yesterday that the FTC’s lawsuit had been dismissed and that Microsoft’s takeover of Activision Blizzard had been approved. Judge Corley also brought the date forward, allowing the takeover to be completed on July 14, 2023. In addition, the CMA and Microsoft are on pause in negotiations.
