Bungie avoids competition with Tarkov & Co.

Bungies new shooter relies in his own way instead of a competition with established brands.

With marathon, Bungie brings a fresh extraction shooter to the market that deliberately does not try to compete directly like Escape from Tarkov.

According to Game Director Joe Ziegler, the team wants to create an experience that can survive, along with other sizes, without copying them. Instead of orienting themselves on established role models, Bungie relies on his own identity, accessible gameplay and the goal of experiencing unforgettable stories.

It is not about outdating other games, but about creating something independent that inspires and inspires you.

Joe Ziegler: “Maybe I'm naive when I say that, but I want to be honest … For me it is not that I am in direct competition and try to dig up the water. When I think about it, it is about how we can offer something that is interesting and cool and in his own area alongside other titles and is just as big and important.”

[…]

“We really want to create some of the most interesting stories you have ever experienced, and we let a lot of dynamics flow in to enable this. We want you to tell someone a really cool story at the end of an evening when you played marathon, do you know?”
