While Microsoft’s acquisition of Activision-Blizzard has been shaking the industry since Tuesday, many observers are concerned about the future of publisher licenses. What will become of it Call of Duty, whose games are always in the bestseller lists on the Playstation every year. While all observers have offered their opinions on the matter, we finally have an official answer as Sony spoke on the subject this morning.
According to Phil Spencer, Call of Duty will continue to be offered on the Playstation
Phil Spencer spoke again via a tweet:
Had good conversations with executives at Sony this week. I have reaffirmed our intention to honor all existing agreements after the Activision Blizzard acquisition and our desire to keep Call of Duty on PlayStation. Sony is an important part of our industry and we value our relationship.

I’ve had some good conversations with Sony executives this week. I reaffirmed our intention to honor existing post-acquisition agreements and our determination to maintain them call of Duty
on PlayStation. Sony is an important part of our industry and we value our relationship.
This confirms a different strategy compared to the Zenimax Media acquisition, partly explained by the importance of the license call of Duty in the world of video games. Playstation players will be able to continue playing Activision’s iconic FPS even after Microsoft’s effective takeover of the publisher.
