Behaviour Interactive announces that Dead by Daylight: Castlevania is now available. The DLC introduces a new Killer, the Dark Count, and a new Survivor, Trevor Belmont, to the realm of the Entity.
Reverence for the night
In the second collaboration with Konami Digital Entertainment (KONAMI), Dead by Daylight adds another successful game series to the already large list of horror icons.
Few video game franchises have produced as many titles over the course of nearly 40 years as Castlevania, and the team behind Dead by Daylight is bringing that passion for Dracula and the Belmont clan to the latest chapter.
“It has been a real pleasure to work closely with the Dead by Daylight team and see their love for the franchise and attention to detail,” says KONAMI’s Castlevania team.
“We are also huge fans of Dead by Daylight and were excited about this collaboration from the beginning, especially because we knew what our games and the story meant to the team at Behaviour Interactive.”
Death comes in many forms
The creative team took advantage of this passion and placed an emphasis on one of the Dark Count’s unique abilities – an ability never seen before in Dead by Daylight: shapeshifting.
Dracula can switch between three forms, each specializing in a different aspect of hunting, effectively combining three killers in one:
-
Vampire Form: In Dracula’s base form, players can unleash a Hellfire spell that releases a line of flames in a forward motion. This attack can break through obstacles, including pallets and windows.
-
Wolf Form: Wolf Form is played from a third-person perspective and specializes in tracking survivors. Players have a better view of scratch and blood marks in Wolf Form. Additionally, all running survivors create visible scent orbs that can be collected to increase the wolf’s speed. Once prey is within range, players can strike with a leaping attack.
-
Bat Form: Bat Form offers a faster base movement speed and a third-person perspective. With no terror radius and the ability to teleport to a nearby floor hatch, Bat Form gives Dracula the cloaking ability of night. Although players cannot see the Survivors in this form, claw marks remain visible and footsteps are easier to hear.
Imposing, regal and merciless, the Dark Count wears his disdain for humanity on his elegantly woven sleeve. In his Mori, he slits a victim’s throat with razor-sharp fingernails before collecting the blood in a glass and drinking it as the victim dies at his feet.
Vampire Killer
Survivor Trevor Belmont, who is no stranger to the supernatural, fights the Dark Count in the fog.
Here, he is forced to face a version of his arch-nemesis in a series of endless trials, relying on the traits that make him the epitome of a Belmont to help his team survive. Trevor Belmont introduces three new talents to Dead by Daylight:
-
Belmont’s Eyes: When a generator is repaired, the Killer’s aura is briefly revealed. Each time the Killer’s aura is revealed, it remains visible for longer.
-
Exhilaration: When players stun a Killer with a Palette while holding an item, it will be upgraded to the next level (if possible).
-
Moment of Glory: Moment of Glory activates after players search a series of chests. Whenever players are injured, they are instead broken and heal for one health after a period of time.
Elegant darkness
After nearly four decades of gaming, the Castlevania series has no shortage of iconic characters and styles.
The Castlevania Collection allows players to delve deeper into the history of this complex series and embody key characters from the Belmont bloodlines and Dracula.
