CEO and Founder Ted Price announces his retirement after 30 years at Insomniac Games.
There is a personnel change at Insomniac Games at the management level. After more than 30 years, Ted Price is leaving as CEO of the studio he founded. At the end of March he will leave the gaming industry behind and retire.
Taking his place in the new co-management are Chad Dezern (formerly Head of Creative), Ryan Schneider (formerly Head of Brand and Leadership Strategy) and Jen Huang (formerly CFO).
After announcing this move to the team last week, Price has now made it public.
About his decision he said:
“Despite a challenging 2024, Insomniacs has remained fully focused on developing games for our fans. As a result of the team’s persistence and collaboration, we are in one of the strongest positions we have experienced in years, with every game in development looking beautiful and playing fantastically.”
“That's why I felt comfortable last week when I announced to the Insomniac team that I would be retiring from the industry at the end of March, having been incredibly fortunate to enjoy such a fulfilling career in the games industry. Today I am sharing this message with a wider audience.”
“I actually made this decision last year. After over 30 years at the helm of Insomniac, it was simply time for me to step aside and let others pave the way for our team.”
“Over the past year, I have had the opportunity to work with Insomniac's leadership team to create a succession plan that I know will provide the continuity, stability and strong leadership necessary to deliver more of the same over the next few decades , which our fans appreciate.”
The new leadership said about the future of the development studio, known for recent game hits like Marvel's Spider-Man and Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart:
“Our shared goal is to preserve what has distinguished Insomniac for more than 30 years while exploring how we can strategically evolve to continue to thrive in the decades to come. We will continue to prioritize our studio culture, which is built on transparency and collaboration. We strive for a workplace where our employees can do the best work of their careers.”
“What does this all mean for our players and fans? We'll continue to make the games you love while caring about the people who make them. This aligns with our studio vision to have a positive and lasting impact on people’s lives.”
