According to The Witcher 4's executive producer, Ciri will be faster and more agile than Geralt, but his influence will always be felt.
The Witcher 4 has been on everyone's lips since the first trailer was unveiled at the Game Awards. There is a lot of speculation, especially about the main character Ciri. Executive producer Małgorzata Mitręga was able to reveal a few details in an interview with GamesRadar.
Mitręga confirmed that there are defining events between the third and fourth parts of the Witcher series that will have a decisive influence on Ciri's abilities in the new game.
“We have a huge respect for history, both in the books and in what has been portrayed in our previous games. But that was one of the first questions we were able to answer, which is how we were able to write a previously untold story that begins in The Witcher 4.”
Compared to Geralt, there will be a few striking differences, but also similarities.
“She’s faster, more agile, but you still feel that she was raised by Geralt.”
The spell she casts in the trailer is called “Bolt”, which in German can mean either thunderbolt or bolt and looked a bit like both with the chain shooting out in a flash.
This could indicate that Ciri is more adept at using magic than Geralt, but you as the player will decide that for yourself to a certain extent anyway, depending on how you develop your character.
We won't know for a while whether you want to specialize more in her magic attacks or melee combat and how that affects the gameplay and maybe even the story.
