Original developer of the Atari Jaguar Survival horror classic work begins with a new game-code name Xeno.
The experienced developer and founder of Athena Worlds, Jane Whittaker, has announced today that work on a new and exciting survival horror game that is currently entitled Codename Xeno has started.
The game is expected to appear for PC and later for consoles after the fans have given their feedback on a developing development plan.
After a crash landing on the planet XL-243, players will quickly find that they are not alone and that the fight for survival begins.
The game combines a sophisticated character AI, crafting, resource management and stealth mechanics and is said to be a pioneering open world game with exploration, survival, excitement and struggle.
Under the direction of Jane Whittaker, one of the original developers of Alien vs. Predator (1994), Codename Xeno has been in development for more than 30 years and will soon be published further information under the direction of Athena Worlds, a studio specializing in open-world games.
Jane Whittaker, founder and CEO of Athena Worlds, said: “Alien VS Predator for Atari defined my career. It defined a genre that is often considered the first real survival game, with over 100 awards and recently honored with 3rd place in the top 10 most creepiest games. One of the two programmers from AVP (gameplay and AI programmer) added: “It is not an exaggeration to say that we have changed the face of the game, and 30 years later I still get messages from fans who ask me to return to this genre with a new franchise.”
I can now announce that Athena Worlds will return to a genre thanks to the support of a main publisher to be named with a completely new survival horror IP, code name Xeno that is very important to me.
We brought together the perfect team to realize this dream project. The development is directed by Mike Meaden, the co-founder of Athena Worlds (producer of Star Citizen, Squadron 42 and Forza Horizon), the character designs come from the Blizzard scholarship holder Blaire Wathen.
