Ubisoft announced that the roadmap for Rainbow Six Siege Year 9 includes four new seasons, two new operators, two operator remasters, balancing changes, improved onboarding and training features, a cross-play update, a modern Versus AI playlist with machine learning, further anti-cheat and anti-toxic measures and many other updates.
In Year 8, Rainbow Six Siege introduced the Commendation system to reward positive gameplay behavior, four new operators, a new map and a major map rework, new controller layouts, an industry-first MouseTrap anti-cheat detection system, the new Arcade -Playlist and some other changes.
In Year 9, Ubisoft continues its efforts to preserve the exciting and fair gameplay of Rainbow Six Siege.
ROADMAP FOR YEAR 9
Operation Deadly Omen, the first season of Year 9, brings the villain Deimos under the control of players. The first season will also introduce important updates, such as a new inventory management menu.
This system makes it easier for players to organize, view and access their skin collection. Following on from the Year 8 Season 4 test server lab, other updates include a revised shield mechanic to ensure a more balanced game as well as an upgrade for attachments and ADS.
The ADS upgrade will reward and reinforce a tactical playstyle by reducing access to magnification and supporting a methodical playstyle. The Season 2 remasters will reintroduce fully upgraded Operators and breathe new life into some old favorites, starting with Recruit, an Operator from the beginning of the game.
Additionally, Season 2 will introduce: the full release of the reputation system, map filters in the Standard playlist, new maps and new target practice in the Map Training playlist, and the full release of the Siege Marketplace.
Season 3 will introduce a new Greek operator, long-awaited badges and a career system, access to the shooting range during matchmaking, the Siege Cup tournament and a revamped vs AI mode with a completely new feature: the AI can control the attackers so that the players can play as defenders this time.
The new badge system is designed to celebrate player achievements and recognize successes and allow players to show their passion. Additionally, the Siege Cup event, a competitive tournament system, will offer unique rewards. The new Versus AI playlist, which uses machine learning to recreate a specific attacker playstyle, allows players to practice fighting in the role of defender.
Finally, updates for Season 4 include a remaster of a popular American operator and a cross-play update that gives console players access to matchmaking with PC. Additionally, Season 4 plans to further strengthen anti-cheat efforts by implementing a system that automatically kicks cheaters and minimizes the negative impact of cheaters on matches.
PLAYER PROTECTION
Rainbow Six Siege remains committed to fair gameplay for all players and maintains a zero-tolerance policy for toxicity and cheating.
New Strike Teams will be able to update and strengthen anti-cheat solutions more regularly, including the QB system for PC users and MouseTrap for console users.
Year 9 continues to expand player protection features, such as new requirements for ranked play, an update to the reputation system and improvements to data locks. In particular, the team has improved machine learning-based data bans to more effectively reduce the impact of cheaters, alongside improved account bans on PC.
MouseTrap will be implemented into the reputation system and fully automated moderation of text chats will be introduced.
PLAYER COMFORT AND LONG-TERM PROGRESS
Following the Year 8 updates, additional player convenience-focused updates will be released this year.
The player convenience updates aim to improve the player experience and add features for a smoother Rainbow Six Siege experience.
In Season 1, these include improvements to getting in and out with the abseiling device and improved picking up of gadgets. Operation Deadly Omen also introduces the Locker, allowing players to more easily sort, favorite, and manage their collected items. A new badge and career system will also be introduced, recognizing players’ achievements and encouraging them to earn badges and visit the careers page to get an overview of their progress.
Players can also look forward to the implementation of pre-visualization for mechanics such as projectile trajectory, drone jump and deployable gadgets. Pre-visualization allows gadgets to be used more safely and precisely, effectively introducing new or returning players to the current state of the game.
Trajectory pre-visualization will be available in all game modes and can be turned on or off in Settings.
Additionally, Year 9 plans improvements to matches, including a new 1v1 custom match preset and a better matchmaking system.
The dynamic matchmaking is tailored to the respective region so that the players are brought together appropriately regardless of place and time. The development team plans to introduce After Action Report 2.0 to provide a better overview of the end of matches and provide more details about the gameplay.
COMPENSATION
The goal of balancing in Rainbow Six Siege this year is to break down the run and gun meta-issue and emphasize utility and strategic play by emphasizing the balance between gunplay and utility.
The goal is to ensure that gunplay is not the only option in all situations and to empower attackers. In Year 9, the development team focuses on delivering meaningful
Balancing updates divided into three categories. The first is an operator, equipment or gadget update to always be up to date with current gameplay requirements.
The second category is system updates, which are broken down into separate units that affect the game globally, such as: B. an update for shotguns or attachments.
The third and most important category is a remaster, which represents the most profound change and affects the base stats of the operators, the equipment, the abilities of the gadgets and more.
An Operator remaster is a reimagining of Operators and their use in the game, much like Tachanka has been in recent years. To ensure that the Operator Rankings remain fun to play, the reworked Operators will be selected based on their pick rates, ban rates, and whether previous balancing levers were ineffective.
As a result, the team will implement remasters for two operators as well as balancing for Solis, Azami, Fenrir and others. Season 1 also adds an LMG update that, along with the attachment update and new balancing levers, makes this weapon class more viable.
TRAINING & ONBOARDING
To improve the onboarding of new players to Rainbow Six Siege, the fully redesigned introductory features introduced in Year 8, including new tutorials, will continue to be updated this year.
In Year 9, the Versus AI and Map Training game modes introduced in the last season will be expanded.
In Season 1, the Versus AI mode expands with additional operators and cards that help strategize the game based on the AI’s behavior. Season 2 will add more operators and maps with onboarding updates. Season 2 will also feature a major update to Target Drill mode in the Map Training playlist and other improvements.
Season 3 brings a new cover lane for the firing range, a new Drone Drill playlist, and additional operators and maps for the Versus AI playlist.
These features provide players with effective tools to improve their competitive play and train their strategic efficiency. Finally, Season 4 will receive further updates to the Versus AI and Maps training playlists, such as additional operators and maps.
Understanding a card is the key to success in the game, and with more cards available, players can continue to practice and develop stronger strategies well beyond matches.
