Crack Open the latest update of Hi-Fi Rush with tips from the game director

Hi-Fi Rush It stars wannabe rocker Chai, who uses the power of music to fight for his freedom from an insidious robotics company. Like the encore after an outstanding concert, the Arcade Challenge! To update! for Hi-Fi Rush There’s even more for players to discover after completing the wild story mode – and best of all, it’s available NOW and is free for all players!

The arcade challenge! To update! adds two new game modes accessible via a new arcade cabinet accessible after completing the story, in addition to a wealth of challenges, secrets and extras to discover simply by feeling the beat and into the living world of immersion Hi-Fi Rush.

“These two modes leverage what we put into our combat mechanics and challenge you to really test your skills,” says John Johanas, game director of Hi-Fi Rush at Tango Gameworks. “We strongly encourage you to perhaps have done a run through Rhythm Tower [available in the base game]know how to use all your combos and assists and feel emotionally ready – you don’t want to doubt the moves you can pull off!”

The first of these new modes – BPM Rush! – pits Chai against waves of enemies who don’t just increase their powers between rounds. The beats per minute (BPM) for the music, which amplifies your movements (and those of your opponents!), also increases, reaching up to a whopping 200 BPM in later stages.

“For comparison: The highest speed in the main game was 160 BPM,” says Johanas. “[The Update!] features an Easy and Normal mode that reflects the amount of damage you take and the enemies take, but the overall gameplay is the same. However, completing either Normal or Easy unlocks an additional difficulty, EX Mode, which launches you at almost top speed and pits you against waves of high-level enemies that gradually increase in damage between each wave!

. “The trick with this mode is the same as always: feel the beat!” explains Johanas. “Even at high speeds, the basics of combat are the same, so your attacks still land on the beat.” Of course, enemy attacks are still synced to the beat too – keep the rhythm, then make a rhythm parry, and you’re done will turn these villains into junk in no time!

Of course, Chai is also no stranger to working his way up from scratch (we hear he finally got his second guitar lesson), so taking your time is also important. “As if we were practicing a difficult riff on a guitar, we modeled BPM Rush! about general techniques for practicing music. The second game mode is now available in Hi-Fi Rushis the free arcade challenge! To update! is a variant of the game’s Rhythm Tower mode. In Power Up! Tower Up! – Players battle their way up the tower, fighting rooms full of enemies and getting a high score, but now with a powerless chai! Don’t worry though, as between rounds you’ll receive a selection of upgrades to stock up on chai!

“We had a lot of fun finding some challenging but sometimes silly ways in which upgrades can affect chai in this mode. They give stat bonuses that get Chai back to where he was in the main game with things like defense, offense, and partner assists,” explains Johanas. “They can even push you past the max, allowing you to overpower some aspects of chai!”

However, some upgrades can also come with special positive or negative modifiers called bonuses and bugs that affect how the next battle will go. “Sometimes you’re lucky and Zanzo’s laser drones are on your side and take out enemies for a floor,” says Johanas. “But sometimes you might need to watch out for long-range enemies, as all beam attacks can now deal significantly more damage!”

If some upgrades come with potential downsides, why even bother tackling them? As Johanas explains, risk can potentially yield great rewards. “In power up! Tower Up!, the path to the coveted S rank is via your final score, which is heavily dependent on your final multiplier. The riskier the upgrades you claim, the more your final multiplier will increase, with safer upgrades offering a smaller bonus. Furthermore, the end of your game isn’t the end of your game, rather it will take a significant chunk out of your final multiplier, so make sure you choose wisely And play well.”

In these new game modes, players don’t just compete for high scores. Also included in the Arcade Challenge! To update! There are 40 new challenges – 20 for each game mode – that can earn players great rewards.

“Some are easy, like just trying out new modes, and others require you to master some techniques, like a perfect 200 BPM rhythm parry!” explains Johanas. “Each of these challenges is given a score based on difficulty, and completing them adds up that score to unlock prizes.”

Prizes up for grabs range from accessories for Chai to costumes for 808 and even fan favorite Korsica, plus additional Photo Mode rewards like new poses for each character, special filters and additional sticker packs to customize your photos! “With this new update, you’ll get the first sticker pack right away,” adds Johanas.

“You can also unlock new special attacks, with both CNMN and Smidge helping out in combat in their own unique ways. Last but not least, we have something special for those who like to call themselves “completors”. We like to go the extra mile when it comes to putting little secrets in our updates, but this time it might not be so small, but it’s really a big thank you to everyone who played along Hi-Fi Rush until now.”
