Curse of the dead gods Released on Xbox One in February, and since then we’ve all at Passtech Games have had a fantastic time watching you all go exploring our dark temple and engaging in all sorts of gadgets. We have also worked hard on our latest update, the Curse of the Dead Cells Update, which we will tell you all about!
The idea of working with Motion Twin actually came about before the full launch during the game’s community-supported development in October 2020 – as it seems eons ago. For reasons of time, we decided to prioritize the base curse Content for launch that turned out to be a blessing in disguise as we were able to expand on the content of today’s update.
The update includes three new weapons: the Knight’s Broadsword, the Conjunctivius Sword, and the Condemned Crossbow, the latter being a brand new type of weapon with a unique cross-combination pattern. With the broadsword, the second attack and the combo finisher always get a critical hit. The sword of conjunctivius is mighty as hell, but once take damage from enemies and you are temple dust. The crossbow is a slow-firing ranged weapon that does damage in an area around the impact.
We’ve also added the legendary Cursed Chest of Dead cellswith a few changes. If you come across it during your runs, you will have to defeat a certain number of enemies without taking any damage to unlock the enticing content: a choice of 3 items (weapons or relics), one of which is always cursed.
Finally we added a new curse (Curse of the dead gods’emblematic gameplay change events) that result in addition to a gameplay change curseMcCallister, the main character of Dead Cells’ Prisoner, is the iconic flaming head. How this new in-game curse works, let’s you discover!
Translate Dead cells 2D pixel art in Curse of the dead gods 3D models were less of a challenge than it might seem as we had a lot of references from Motion Twin and Evil Empire. The biggest challenge here was the prisoner’s head as it was created for a 2D side scrolling platformer curse has a top down camera view. However, we are happy with the results, as are the studios behind them Dead cells!
It should be noted that most of us here at the office are huge fans of Dead cells, it was really exciting for us. It was a good fit from a practical standpoint too, as both games have a good range of cool weapons and both studios have a penchant for good combat systems. In addition to paying homage to a game that marked the decade for us, our goal in working together was to bring some fresh and surprising content to the table curse
