CD Projekt Red’s last big release was Cyberpunk 2077. The title had a rocky launch, but the studio didn’t give up and managed to turn things around with new content, releases for new consoles generation and the announcement of its expansion that will arrive this year and we will know more about it in June.
Additionally, the Cyberpunk anime was also released. Edgerunners on Netflix, which has been hugely successful on the platform. With all of this, the success of Cyberpunk 2077 has only grown.
Cyberpunk 2077 had a big 2022 powered by the anime series
Something that is noticeable in the number of sales, since the title sold more units in 2022 than in 2021. And this is due, in large part, to the aforementioned measures taken. Between the success of the animated series, the improved version for Xbox Series X|S and PS5, the announcement of the extension… they have increased the popularity of the franchise, which has had a direct impact on the success game business. Something the company itself confirmed in a tweet, where it’s clear how 2022 was a great sales year for Cyberpunk 2077. Of course, the year in which it hit the top figures was in 2020, the year of its launch.

2023 is expected to continue to be a strong year for Cyberpunk 2077. Unsurprisingly, CD Projekt Red is working on its first expansion, Phantom Liberty, which has a larger budget than any previous expansion from the studio.
