Destiny 2 game director Joe Blackburn is leaving Bungie, he announced.
In a series of posts on X, Joe Blackburn announced that he was leaving Bungie. Destiny 2’s game director will make way for Tyson Green as his successor next month.
For Blackburn, the farewell seems to come at just the right time, as a new milestone will be reached internally in February with the new annual chapter “The Final Form” and the ritual “end-to-end playtest” will begin.
Blackburn wrote: “This ritual will be particularly meaningful to me personally, as it will also serve to pass the torch of Destiny 2 Game Director to the next era of leadership as I embark on a new adventure outside the walls of Bungie.”
“When we reach end-to-end next month, Tyson Green will take the reins as D2 Game Director. If you’ve been following Bungie for a while, you’ve heard his name before. From Halo PvP to the creation of Exotic weapons in D1, Tyson has been an important part of Bungie’s legacy since Myth II.”
Destiny 2: The Final Form will be released for Xbox, PlayStation and PC on June 4, 2024.
