According to a survey on the GDC 2025, more and more developers are turning to the PC and moving away from consoles.
According to a current survey by the Game Developers Conference (GDC), more and more game developers are focusing on the PC as a preferred platform.
The survey showed that 80 % of the developers are currently working on PC games, which represents an increase compared to 66 % in the previous year. In comparison, 38 % of the respondents develop games for PlayStation 5 and 34 % for the Xbox Series X/S.
This growing interest in the PC platform could be due to the flexibility and the wide user base that the PC offers.
Another possible factor for this trend is the growing interest in devices such as the Steam Deck, which further increases the attractiveness of the PC as a game platform.
In addition to the current development, 74 % of the developers are planning to publish their next projects for the PC, which represents an increase of 62 % in the previous year. These numbers underline the increasing importance of the PC in game development.
It became known that Microsoft was number 1 of all publishers worldwide.
