Pearl Abyss Shows DokeV “ROCKSTAR” Music Video at Game Awards.
Developer Pearl Abyss, best known for Black Desert, announced the new ROCKSTAR music video for his new title DokeV on the Game Awards show today. The Game Awards, also known colloquially as the “Oscars of Gaming”, attracted over 83 million viewers in 2020. This year the event took place at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles and was broadcast from over 40 streaming sites around the world.
The full version of the video is available here:
The music video is inspired by K-pop and was created to thank the fans for their incredible support following the announcement and release of the first gameplay trailer at this year’s gamescom – Europe’s largest gaming show. DokeV has captured the hearts of a global audience with a vibrant and colorful open world, cute characters, and unique gameplay elements featured in the announcement.
In the music video, DokeV’s characters dance to ROCKSTAR, the catchy tune from GALACTIKA. The choreography comes from Lia Kim from the well-known Studio 1 MILLION. In the video, the main characters and their friends first practice the dance before performing it on the main stage in front of a large audience. The incredibly detailed choreography of 1 MILLION was recorded in Pearl Abyss’ motion capture studio and transferred to the next-gen BlackSpace engine to create realistic animations. Also, many of the scenes in the music video were developed as true in-engine gameplay in DokeV.
“We made this particular video to thank the community for the amazing support we received after our first gameplay trailer,” said Sangyoung Kim, lead producer at DokeV. “Pearl Abyss is doing its best to create a DokeV world that blurs the lines between the real and the virtual world. We’re working hard to make a game that meets our fans’ expectations. “
Pearl Abyss is working with Korea Toursim Organization and various CJ brands to promote the Hyllyu Wave (Korean Wave). Instead, the studio in DokeV shows a realistic virtual image of Korea, which extends the game into the Metaverse. Traditional Korean culture is also featured in the music video, with references to historical locations such as Gyeongbokgung Palace’s Geunjeongjeon Hall, Gyeonghoeru Pavilio and Namdaemun. It also shows traditional Korean children’s games that have recently become popular around the world.
As part of the aforementioned partnership with CJ brands, the music video will also be shown at the MAMA Show, the world’s largest K-Pop music awards ceremony, attended by artists from all over the world. The viewers can experience the DokeV-Metaverse to the fullest and learn how well virtual and real worlds can merge. It is the first time a video game music video has been featured on the show. MAMA will take place in South Korea on December 11th.
DokeV is a monster collecting open world action adventure game with a unique setting. The main characters go on an adventure to meet and befriend Dokebi. Dokebi are legendary creatures from Korean mythology. The game has action elements, addicting gameplay and a lot of freedom thanks to a beautiful open world. DokeV is developed for PC and console and uses the Next Generation BlackSpace engine from Pearl Abyss.
