It is now not uncommon for a case to only come with a code instead of a disc, despite purchasing a game in physical form.
Even in the case of the Avowed Premium Edition, which was introduced a few weeks ago, the Steelbook will not come with a disc, just a code. This change is particularly frustrating for collectors of physical media.
Fans and collectors gave some vent to this via social media. For example, user LiangHaoquan says on X-User danielc96205347, on the other hand, asks about the point of a steelbook if there is no disc in it.

“Please don’t forget about us physical players who want physical games. No codes in boxes, not just digital, no Game Pass. We want to go to the store and hold the game in our hands, take it home and insert the disc into our Xbox. Please don’t forget us.”
