The year 2023 marks the return to physics of E3 in four years. However, it looks like Xbox, Playstation and Nintendo will not be among them. Indeed, several sources in the industry have reported this IGN.
This is followed by a statement from the Xbox site You are bloggingheralding the return of the green brand “at our annual showcase, which will be held in Los Angeles this summer.” However, this in no way implies a presence in the Convention Center, where E3 is usually held. Regarding Nintendo and Sony, the two brands also declined to comment on their attendance, although sources have indicated that neither will be in attendance.
This could come as a blow to E3, which is trying to bounce back with the help of events company ReedPop, which isn’t the case “won’t benefit from the effervescence and scale of console maker booths”. With it being unclear whether E3 will represent a good return, many publishers prefer the format of a homegrown show. E3 will take place from June 13th to 16th, maybe one of the last editions.
