A few months ago, Microsoft took action against the distribution of emulators in its store. This clashes a bit with Steam policy, which allows them unless there’s a claim from the company and the particular emulator is infringing an active patent on the machine it wants to emulate.
What the Americans did was censor those operating in retail mode. Today, you can run them without any problems from developer mode. This is allowed. Remember that it is only forbidden to distribute them from the store
A questionable mode that we do not recommend for the moment
However, this does not mean that the creators of emulators, or at least those dedicated to porting them, have not been able to find a new way around this block. So today we can say they are back in retail mode. Although there are nuances.
And it is that to access this new way of downloading emulators you will have to do it with an application that will only give you access if you pay a Patreon. As a matter of principle, I will not link to said Patreon and personally I will never recommend you that you are paying for something that could be knocked over again
