First-person puzzle game Eternal Threads launches for Xbox Series, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and Switch on May 23.
Eternal sons is a single-player, first-person puzzle game. It is based on the manipulation of time, choices and consequences. It was launched in PC in 2022 and the launch of versions for consoles was planned, but they were delayed. Today, 2 years later, it is finally arriving on home consoles.
In Eternal sons We play as an agent tasked with repairing corruption in the time stream. We were deployed to the north of England in May 2015, where six people died in a house fire. Since we cannot simply stop the fire, we will have to manipulate the inhabitants of the house to try to avoid the catastrophic fire. We will have a week so that catastrophic events do not end up being triggered.
Trailer:
From the beginning in Eternal sons We have complete freedom to explore the seven days preceding the fire, moving from one to the other. We can see and edit the important events of the entire week as many times as we want and in the order we want. Some decisions will only have minor effects on the schedule, such as moving objects from home or reveal deeper stories and secrets. However, major changes rewrite the timeline by modifying existing events, adding new ones, or even replacing them entirely.
We’ll have to go through this chronology from top to bottom, changing decisions at different times of the week so that their effects interact and combine to save the six inhabitants of the house.
Main characteristics of eternal threads:
- The entire narrative follows the six main characters through multiple decisions across multiple timelines and you can experience them however you want. You can focus on the story of one character at a time, following their decisions across timelines, then go back to the beginning and follow another character.
- You can approach history like a forensic detective, examining the end results of the story and then working backwards along the timeline, essentially observing the effects and then determining their cause.
- Or you can just look at things in chronological order, learning about how the timeline evolves while watching and changing the decisions the characters face as the week goes on.
- Observe and change things as many times as you want – Can’t remember exactly what happened at an event? Have you changed a decision and you are not sure you appreciate the consequences? Nothing happens. Go back in time, watch and change what you want, when you want, as many times as you want.
- Changing the past to influence the future: Setting up a temporary base in the house just hours after the fire provides a unique perspective on events. When you look at the timeline, past events repeat before you in ghostly form, with the smoke and fire damaged house constantly reminding you of what is to come. Additionally, as you manipulate the past, the environment can readjust around you to accommodate ongoing changes. New items will appear, others will move around the house, and the contents of rooms can change significantly as you edit the past.
