For violations of the digital markets Act, Apple has to pay a penalty of 500 million dollars in a punishment to the European Union.
The European Union has occupied Apple with a fine of 500 million dollars due to violations of Digital Markets Act.
Apple had violated EU law by not allowed the apps in the App Store to refer to alternative means of payment outside of their own stores. Thus, developers were forced to deduct 30 percent of their income to the company.
In the judgment, Apple is asked to “remove the technical and commercial restrictions on the steering and to refrain from the non -compliant behavior in the future”.
“According to the DMA, app developers who sell their apps via the App Store from Apple should be able to inform their customers free of charge about alternative offers outside the app store, to guide them to these offers and to enable them to buy,” says a statement.
“The Commission has found that Apple does not meet this obligation. Due to a number of restrictions that Apple, app developers can not fully benefit from the advantages of alternative sales channels outside the app store. Likewise demonstrated that these restrictions are objectively necessary and proportionate ”.
