A new special evaluation confirms: FIFA 23 was Europe’s top game in 2022.
Real Madrid won the Champions League, Argentina became world champions – and FIFA 23 was the best-performing video game of 2022. This is shown by a special evaluation by GfK Entertainment.
The football simulation not only conquers the top of the pan-European games annual charts, but was also the best-selling title in all 19 countries surveyed. The latest installment in the series thus beats the action RPG Pokémon legends Arceus and the fun racer Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, which cracked the top 3 in nine and eight regions respectively.
The sports game Nintendo Switch Sports also showed excellent form in 2022, climbing the podium in five different countries (Germany, Italy, Netherlands, Austria, Europe). Horizon Forbidden West (Sweden, Slovakia, Czech Republic), Gran Turismo 7 (Portugal, Slovakia, Czech Republic), FIFA 22 (Poland, Slovenia, Hungary), God of War Ragnarök (Denmark, Hungary) and Farming Simulator also do very well 22 (Poland, Slovenia) onwards.
FIFA 23 lands games hat-trick in Germany
In the German games annual charts, which were determined separately and broken down by platform, FIFA 23 gets the triple on PS5, PS4 and Xbox One. The silver medal goes to Horizon Forbidden West (PS5, PS4) and FIFA 22 (Xbox One). Elden Ring and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II top the Xbox Series hit list, while Farming Simulator 22 and The Sims 4 dominate the PC evaluation. Most popular Nintendo Switch productions are Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and Nintendo Switch Sports; on 3DS, Pokémon Ultra Moon wins, followed by Fire Emblem Warriors.
The basis of the European games annual charts 2022 are the physical sales data from the following countries: Belgium, Denmark, Germany, Finland, France, Great Britain, Italy, Netherlands, Norway, Austria, Poland, Portugal, Switzerland, Sweden, Slovenia, Slovakia, Europe, Czech Republic and Hungary.
