Once again we have another port for Xbox in the spotlight, although this one has been here almost since the announcement. It’s about Final Fantasy XVI, the last title in the saga, with the exception of the more recent Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, and the possibilities that it will eventually arrive on the Microsoft console. But of course, it is not yet clear who its arrival depends on, because although the Americans’ relations with Square Enix have improved a lot, Sony has a lot to say about it.
Indeed, Square Enix, through the game’s producer, Naoki Yoshida, also seems to be looking at Xbox, as he admitted in this interview on Noisy pixelwhere he states that Once the team releases the PC version, development will hopefully bring the game to “other platforms as well.”
Final Fantasy XVI is coming to PC soon
It’s clear that many of these statements and Square Enix’s intentions can be translated into an Xbox version, as ultimately happened with Final Fantasy XIV Online, now available on Xbox Series since March 20. However, on the other hand, we see that Final Fantasy VII Remake doesn’t have many signs of reaching Xbox regardless.
Almost a year after its launch, The Rising Tide, the Final Fantasy XVI expansion will arrive very soon on PS5, on April 18, and it is assumed that it will also be included on PC when its version arrives. But, after this new hint, in which the Xbox version can practically be taken for granted, it is still not entirely clear whether this will ultimately be true.
