One of the big titles we are looking forward to this year is Metaphor: ReFantazio. In case you didn’t know, we are facing a new project from Atlus, creators of the famous saga Character. At the last Gamescom, We were able to briefly take control of this title which has a lot to say in the JRPG genre. With its launch fast approaching on October 11, the team has managed to lengthen our teeth even further.

By taking control of an anonymous hero, the game fully introduces us a fight for the throne of a fantasy kingdom. The world of this new adventure is made up of 8 tribesthat have been generating multiple conflicts between them for years. That is why the king tries to unite them to end these wars once and for all. But the king has been assassinated. This is how the plot of this new fantasy begins, accompanied by the fairy Gallicia, we will have to go to the city and see what happens.

To take us into this fantastic world, the team has put great effort into creating a superb artistic section. Which combines fantastic hand-drawn illustrations with a graphic section that highlights the style cartoon so characteristic of the studio. The settings are varied, from enchanted forests and medieval cities to ancient temples and ethereal landscapes that seem straight out of a dream. This is something expected from Atlus, who always tend to take care of the smallest details of their artistic section.

A new project

In terms of gameplay, Metaphor seems to maintain a turn-based combat system, but with innovations that seek to add depth and strategy to each encounter. If you have played the saga Characteryou will feel right at home, since the interface is very similar. The game offers us a huge amount of skills and possibilities that are enriched thanks to its archetype system. Who would be the characters of the famous saga of Atlus. Its system of elemental weaknesses is still very present and appears as one of the great playable pillars of the adventure. Likewise, we are shown the possibility of combining skills thanks to its synthesis system.

Exploration seems to be another strong point of Metaphor. The game world is presented as vast and openfull of secrets, dungeons and side quests that invite players to discover every corner. In addition, its characters are very well built, so talking to the inhabitants of this fantasy world will be key to advancing the story and knowing its details. Additionally, the game includes the classic day and night system which will force us to think very carefully about our actions and incursions. This system gives us the opportunity to explore its world day by day, proposing small objectives to advance.

These details make Metaphorcan become a interesting gateway for novices in the genre that has a certain respect for the saga Character. Yes indeed, We are still facing a huge title where we will have many hours of entertainment.

From Area Xbox we thank the team Cosmocover for making this article possible.
