Playground Games has become one of the most important studios on Xbox, if not the best for many gamers. Its level has been very high with the saga Forza Horizon, which reached its peak with Forza Horizon 4. The creatives of Playground put all their talent to make it an exceptional experience on a map that took us to Edinburgh. Such is the effort to achieve perfection, that Playground has used a few 300 presets so that the sky is seen as varied as possible. Now we know that Forza Horizon 5 will greatly improve this functionality.
The main lighting designer, Lukas Koelz, revealed that there would be over 2,000 sky presets. As in previous titles, the development team used a team of three high-resolution cameras that capture photos every 30 seconds, and combine them with 12K images of the sky. The total number of data has been 75 TB with over 400 hours of photos captured from the sky.
“When the user creates a custom run, they can choose to run at noon [cuando está] rainy, for example, or during a clear sunset. In Horizon 4, the system would pick a preset in our sky to give them their choice, and we had about 300. This time we have over 2000, so there’s a lot more variety, and in free mode, fine. sure you will experience it too ”
A weather like we’ve never seen before in Forza Horizon
The artistic director, Don ArcetaHe also spoke about the different weather conditions, noting how the desert can provide “sprinkled rain”. And when traveling in the jungle, players would experience a torrential downpour typical of this region. The climate will be another of the great protagonists of Forza Horizon 5, an element which already has an important weight in the fourth part. This time the map is much bigger, which also allows different situations to emerge depending on the field in which one finds oneself.
“We all have these different climatic behaviors in different biomes, which really reflects and enhances the experiences you have.”said Arceta. He also reiterated that new seasonal weather effects, sandstorms and tropical storms, can indeed be addressed. This is a big step forward from Forza Horizon 4, because in this, the climate was completely uniform throughout the mapping.
