With the release of dead island 2 approaching as fast as a horde of zombies, we’re here to tell you a little about some of the types of zombies you’ll encounter when you visit HELL-A next month.
There are three different variants – infected, apex And variant – each with different strengths and weaknesses, but you’ll learn how you prefer to dispose of each one of them (if you’re so inclined). There are also certain zombie killing challenges dead island 2 And once you’re done, you’ll learn more about each zombie to help you find the best ways to kill them.
Infected guys
Let’s start with the easiest Zombies to kill, the Infected Types, of which there are three – walker, shuffler And runner. Hikers come first. They have no resistance or weakness to any weapons and can easily be slaughtered in one-on-one combat, so they’re definitely the ones you’ll have the most fun with in the beginning.
While shamblers are fragile, decaying, and slow, they are weak to blunt and explosive damage, but resist bleed damage as they lack blood! Their bones are so fragile that their own attacks often cause their limbs to break off. However, keep an eye out for a large number of them.
Runners are drawn to loud noises, and because they are fast, they can cover the ground quickly. They range from weak to sharp and bleed damage, but watch out because they have a push attack that knocks you backwards.

Next are some of the more challenging zombie types – bursters, Butcher’s shop, crusher, screamer And slobber. Bloated with volatile gas and contagious black blood that spreads the zombie virus, Bursters are downright gross. You shouldn’t get too close to them when they explode, BUT they also damage nearby zombies, so use that to your advantage.
Butchers are our least favorites – they feed on corpses regrow their own bodies, so you’ll have to finish them off quickly before they regenerate. They also have fearsome blade-like hands, and it’s likely you’ll hear them before you see them.
Crushers are swollen with autophage-enhanced muscle fibers and their overhead smash sends a seismic shockwave through the ground – jump over it to avoid being knocked down – then take advantage of the Crusher’s momentary weakness. Top Tip: You can stop this powerful attack by maiming her arm.
We think the worst zombies you will encounter are the Screamers. Your voltaic lungs create a plasma-induced stream of sonic shockwaves, forcing you backwards and drawing in any zombies in the area. Projectile attacks are the only way to defeat them.
Unfortunately, the best way to defeat our next zombie – Slobbers – is to get close as quickly as possible to stop them from puking up caustic bile, and then force them into a melee. They resist blunt and projectile damage and are immune to corrosive damage, but slice or shock them to deal the most damage.
variant types
Don’t get too comfortable just yet… you haven’t met the variant zombies yet! This is when things start to get really spicy. Burning runners ignite anything combustible they come in contact with and are expectedly immune to fire damage, but water and chem bombs douse their blazing flames.
As the name suggests, Grenadier Walker wear a vest loaded with grenades ready to detonate as soon as they take damage. It’s better to concentrate damage in melee combat on limbs or the head to try to prevent the vest from detonating. Finally, Riot Gear Wanderer
