Yesterday’s news about the official shutdown of Google Stadia servers came as a surprise to almost no one, even though we were all clear that this Google Cloud project had been a failure, we couldn’t imagine the internal mismanagement and the total disaster of this project. Now it turns out that some game developers for this console and service have discovered this news just like us, leaving their games adrift and unanswered.
Google’s means of communicating this permanent closure are unclear, but it was very dangerous for developers to deliberately not warn that their platform would become obsolete for games, wasting development time on Stadia. While it’s obvious that it wouldn’t have purely exclusive games, it’s a low blow for those who have invested the most in th is service.
Total chaos, Google closes Google Stadia without telling anyone
In the comments of one of a developer’s posts from tangle tower, game that would also be released is Google Stadia, we can confirm the internal chaos that yesterday’s notice must have caused. As they comment, even the workers of this service did not know this was coming.
We literally signed the publishing deal with Stadia last week. So I guess the internal teams there, who are lovely, will probably find out around the same time as us, because I had a super heated meeting with them last week about our coming together.
This cloud-supported service didn’t convince anyone, despite tons of hype, Xbox Cloud Gaming has far surpassed the quality of Google’s cloud gaming. Now, with Google Stadia shut down, Xbox remains the only company to bring this service to cellphones, tablets, TVs, and a long list of products to enjoy cloud gaming.
The Tangle Tower was supposed to launch on Stadia in 2 days, and this post is the first I’ve heard of it being shut down 😢 https://t.co/Pu0UPTQlRn
