Fans of Japanese games this week can’t complain. Following the announcement of the arrival of a new Super Robot Wars located for the first time in the West, we now also have juicy novelties referring to the Gundam saga, which just a month ago had already had the animated film Gundam Hathaway mobile suit.
Bandai Namco announced a few hours ago Gundam Evolution, a game in the series that many already compare to Overwatch for its structure. No more one-on-one fighting games of yesteryear. What this production brings us are 6v6 filming matches with characters from different classes who will include old acquaintances of all Gundam sagas with unique skills and characteristics.

For now, the list of 12 confirmed mecha includes: Gundam, ∀ Gundam and Gundam Barbatos. De Zeon, Zaku II, Sazabi, Methuss, Asshimar and DOM Trooper are listed, with the presence also of Pale Rider, GM Sniper II, Guntank and GM. More characters will likely join the team over time if all goes well in terms of success.
The game will be released in modality free to play, to compete head-to-head with current giants such as Call of Duty: Warzone, Fortnite and Apex Legends which is not at all an easy task, especially if we take into account that thThe game has so far only been announced on PC, a platform that is not one of the most popular in Japan, although it could perhaps be successful in Internet cafes in Korea or China because at the moment production is notor it looks like it was going to reach, at least by launch, any other region outside of Asia.
The title’s closed beta begins next month for 5,000 players, although there is no further information regarding release dates.
