It’s been a long time since Halo Infinite’s last major update. Today, and after more than a year of its launch, we received what 343 says is the biggest update the video game has received in its multiplayer. Although for most it’s one more season, it’s seen as the game’s reboot and the start of a big moment for 343 in command of Halo Infinite.
Halo Infinite Season 3 called Echoes Within, we conveys that feeling of newness and optimism that we didn’t have some time ago with Halo Infinite. Now, everything that happened is a good starting point for the future, but it already seems like something quite late that many will not be interested in the same way.
Therefore, we want to give you our thoughts on this new update, its content, and the opportunities players have for the future.

Everything is coming to Halo Infinite, great content that’s not enough
At this point, nothing will be enough for us, even if what is coming is new and quite interesting, we must understand that we have not had good news for a long time that encourages us to play this game for more than a week in a row. That being the case, we’re going to break down what this season brings and explain why this may be the start of a great future for Halo Infinite multiplayer.
new battle pass
The biggest incentive to play and complete the challenges each week is being able to unlock cosmetics through the battle pass. This season is no exception, as that, along with the unlockables from each Fracture event, our incentive to play day after day is the battle pass.
This season is loaded with a lot of content. Fortunately, the premium pass is quite cheap, and if you bought the one from last season and saved the coins you earned by completing it, it will be totally free. The same will happen with the current one, as it has enough coins for you to save up and get a new battle pass for free.
Continuing with the content, it must be said that the section on colors and customization apart from helmets and bibs still seems empty. What remains are simple weapon skins or colors for armor cores. The community has already complained about selling colors to us, but that doesn’t seem to be changing in the distant future.
In short, it’s good content that comes as a reward for playing, so you shouldn’t be disappointed with the results or any investment. Unfortunately, it seems that the repetition of undesirable consumables included here, such as experience increases or having two epaulets of the same cross core being at different levels, takes away from the quality and shows a lack of originality or material for the occasion.
multiplayer maps
At the moment, the two cards that arrived are one clear sign that a good design provides a lot of quality of life to the game. The two Arena map cases, such as Cliffhanger and Chasm, provide great differentiation from other maps released in previous updates. Sure, we’re missing some and need a lot of cards added to the community roster, but with these two we’re just happy.
And we must be clear, the lack of multiplayer maps prevents us from wanting to continue playing. But in the end, and according to the leaked files, many maps would be produced to give us the best experience.
We don’t forget either of the Big Team Battle Oasis map, as it shows like a reunion with those big maps from Halo 3 with their open and closed spaces. This card, with the community cards, will remain as the most played at the start of the season, according to its reception on the networks.
Cosmetics and Armor Cores
Perhaps the best thing this season brought us was its cosmetics. Customization with the two new armor cores reflects some awesome creativity that fits Halo’s overall aesthetic pretty well.
And yes, the customization in Halo Infinite reaches a transcendent point, because the combinations we have with each core are full of personality. If when it comes time to play you haven’t picked a particular Spartan, you should try the Chimera core, with those futuristic touches that add spiciness to the armor.
Narrative
What appear to be dull narrative events and simple cutscenes it becomes a complete story where our spartan will be the protagonist. On this occasion, we learn a little more about the case of Dihn, a Spartan who connected with a banished AI called Iratus who now seems to control his mind and seeks to completely terrify the Spartan. At this time, we don’t know the intentions of the AI, but we do know the consequences of its intrusion into Dihn’s body, as he slowly goes insane.
Despite being good cinematic content, the multiplayer connection is currently a bit vague and doesn’t represent any major changes or exciting advancements. Of course, this is the first time that multiplayer, both maps and game modes, has been part of a common lore for the whole group.
New Weapon (DMR) and Cover Screen
The two direct gameplay additions were a weapon and an armor ability. Let’s start with the cover screen or Shroud Screen; This kit allows you to emit a field like a dome where vision from outside to inside and from inside to outside is impeded. This drop-down screen works tactically as a way to evade or distract the enemy in the midst of battle. It doesn’t seem like a gear we’d prefer over the Grapple or Repulsor, but it’s always nice to have new ways to turn the tide of games.
Continuing with the new weapon, let’s talk about the new DMR, a powerful and quite satisfying weapon, but it’s more or less the same as we already have in the game sandbox. Now, the above does not mean that we don’t. don’t like the addition, because this weapon has a surprising maneuverability that always makes us want to keep using it. But of course it happens that within Halo Infinite we already have the Battle Rifle, the Carbine, the Shock Rifle and we could also say that the Sidekick. So this DMR wasn’t necessary or a really appealing option for novelty, but it doesn’t hurt.
game modes
Two game modes are here to stay. The one that really matters to us is that of Scalation Slayer, whose dynamism combined as if it were a party mode makes us want to keep playing. This, dearly, indicates that new weapons are needed to find variety, as there seems to be an imbalance between accuracy and melee. Just to say, there is only one automatic weapon, apart from the Commando, the Assault Rifle is the only one that performs its own machine gun function; Halo 4 being, for example, a game with 3 variants of useful automatic weapons.
Continuing with the game modes, there are variations of what we already had that work quite well on different maps, like very interesting all against all or asymmetrical modes.
What does Halo Infinite have in store for us?
Let’s face it, all of the above left us with a bittersweet taste. We love receiving content and trending Halo Infinite every week, but that’s not enough, we need more and better. New game modes and new weapons are due to arrive every month, keeping the community active and not stuck for months until the next update.
For now, we can wait for Halo Infinite Season 4 to give us a complete game 2 years after its release.
