Xbox has taken a new path in terms of exclusive releases, with games like Indiana Jones and the Great Circle coming to PlyStation consoles or the recently announced The Outer Worlds. However, Microsoft continues to advocate the “case-by-case” approach and, for now, is sticking to it.
A good example is STALKER 2: Heart of Chornoby, one of the best games of 2024 released exclusively on Xbox Series X|S and PC and which, For now, this won't come to PS5.
No plans for a PS5 version
At least that's how the game's director, Ievgen Grygorovych, defends it in an interview with Tech4Gamerswhere he states that The team is focused on further support for the PC and Xbox versions.
We were fully focused on developing (and now supporting) the PC and Xbox Series X/S versions.
Meanwhile, GSC Game World is working on improving the gaming experience on PC and Xbox. They've released a few updates for STALKER 2 since launch, with many more to come. In addition, Two extensions are in progress, which suggests that the game will receive fairly extensive post-launch support. In fact, more details on post-launch support are expected to be shared in early 2025. Does that mean it won't come to PS5? Clearly no, but at the moment it is a reality that there are no plans to introduce it on the Sony console.
Furthermore, it must be remembered that in Some leaked documents in 2021 mentioned that the exclusivity period for STALKER 2: Heart of Chornoby on Xbox was three months. This doesn't mean that it will land on PS5 in three months, but nothing prevents it from being something that happens later.
