IO Interactive has several changes in sight for what the Hitman IP is, among them the new Freelancer mode and the Hitman World of Assassination. Even so, the changes don’t seem to affect the brutal profits the Agent 47 franchise brings to developers, as seen in the Annual Report from 2021/2022.
hitman 3 for example exceeded all expectations in its first year. On Twitter, it was commented that the budget had been 155 million Danish kroner, or around $22.5 million, as sales remained very strong on Steam and with the title being added to Xbox Game Pass, thanks to performance bonuses and other additives. .

For fiscal 2023, earnings are expected to reach numbers between $65.5 and $72.8 million, although the lack of launches in 2024 and 2025 can lead to a significant drop in income for that year. It also goes hand in hand with announcements that Project 007 and an Xbox-exclusive RPG won’t be released until at least 2025.
The company’s strategy is diversify to other platformssuch as mobile phones, and position themselves as distributors of titles from other studies.
For now, Hitman World of Assassin and Freelancer mode is coming on January 26th.
