Gears 5: Hivebusters is coming to Xbox Game Pass, opening the door to other potential spinofs
Gears of War’s first story expansion arrives with Gears 5: Hivebusters. It is common for this saga to expand its online modes with maps, characters and even new game modes. However, expanding the campaign without launching a new title is a daring never seen before in the series. However, this situation opens up a range of interesting possibilities. If we look at the previous versions of the franchise, without counting the numbered ones, we can find other spinofs like Gears Tactics or Gears of War Judgmente. Games that deal with secondary stories or the past to expand traditions.
Also as there are micro-stories and comics about the characters, as is the case with the Beehive Crushers from the DLC just released. Bringing the eponymous new online mode to the game might already have given us a hint that the Expanded Universe would somehow become playable. For what I dare to think that in order to maintain constant versions on Xbox Game Pass, the franchise could continue to receive dlcs or “minor” titles where other facets are explored.. Like the origin of the characters or their alternate abilities.
Without going any further, our dear Augustus Cole Train was a beating star, a violent sport similar to American football. Imagine the laughs of a “sports” game inspired by Cole’s life before E-Day. We could even go further and add additional DLC for Gears 5, in which to meet other genres like the psychological thriller with the childhood of Queen Myrrah.
