The official trailer for “A Minecraft Movie” is released today – and anyone with sharp eyes will have already noticed some familiar elements from the game. The cast and crew put a lot of work into staying true to that Minecraftand that includes bringing to life beloved features that have shaped players’ adventures over the years.
If you are new to the Minecraft Universe, some of these references may have confused you, but don’t worry! I’m here to explain some of the most iconic elements from the trailer, what they do, and how useful they are for Minecrafters.
The pickaxe
In Minecraftyou can build almost anything. But inside Survival modeYou have to start somewhere, and for most players, one of the first steps in this journey is crafting a humble wooden pickaxe. However, try mining diamonds with it and you’ll watch the precious ore crumble into voxel dust. To mine most of the materials in the overworld, you’ll need to work your way up to stone and then to an iron pickaxe – similar to the one Steve has in the film. But reachable other Dimensions, you still need a few upgrades…
The craft table
Few blocks are more recognizable than the crafting table, which unlocks countless recipes, from more durable tools to more sophisticated materials and various contraptions. You can place a crafting table in your base like Steve does in the trailer, or you can carry it around in your inventory to use as needed in your adventures. Crafting tables are often accompanied by furnaces for smelting ores, as well as enchanting tables that give your equipment special properties in exchange for experience points.
Technically you could play Minecraft without ever building a crafting table if you wanted. Would it be difficult and stop you from discovering a lot of cool things? Absolutely. But there is no wrong way to play Minecraftso you do it! Or would it just be like that? Mine Then?…
Creepers
To this day, the sight or hiss of a creeper gives all Minecrafters goosebumps – and that’s no different in A Minecraft Movie. Unlike skeletons or zombies, creepers have no upper limbs to use against you. Therefore, it is understandable if you assume that they cannot harm you. However, up close you will discover the Creeper’s devastating attack: A literal explosion. Many game playthroughs were aborted by these stealth raids. So keep an eye on your head as you explore the darker corners of the overworld.
Piglins
Native to the NetherThese bipedal, pig-like creatures cannot normally live in the overworld, as the clean, sporeless air causes them to become zombies. But in “A Minecraft Movie,” they have apparently found a way to not only invade the overworld, but also cause major trouble. What can you expect from them while playing? Minecraft? The piggies you encounter in the Nether are a little more receptive to the idea of not attacking you right away – as long as you’re wearing a piece of gold armor. Bring some gold bars and they’ll even trade various items for them! And if you’re lucky, you might even see a little piggy riding a piggy. Awww!
Villages
In “A Minecraft Movie,” the protagonists travel through a village where Steve demonstrates his favorite way of cooking chicken. We’re still recovering from that. And while you won’t be able to experience creative culinary feats in the in-game villages, they are a huge boon for survival mode players in need of resources, especially food. The villagers may say “hrrrm” and “haaaaah” when you raid their houses and farms, but they don’t really care! That’s just how they talk. In fact, they also exchange various goods for emeralds; The cartographer will even sell you maps to hidden treasures… but that doesn’t mean finding them will be easy.
Ender pearls
You may have noticed that in the official trailer, Garret accidentally used a strange item called the Ender Pearl – the last one in Steve’s stash, no less! In the game, Ender Pearls are dropped by defeated Endermen and work in the same way: you throw them and are teleported to wherever they land. An even more interesting use for them is to create Ender Eyes, which help you find portals to the End Dimension. This is a strange, desolate land of floating islands populated by Endermen, at the center of which lives the Ender Dragon, the largest mob in the world Minecraft
Why would you even start a fight with the ender dragon? For the tons of experience points, but also for the rare dragon egg that you can display in your base for bragging rights. If you just want to see the egg up close without fighting, you can always switch to Creative Mode and place one from your unlimited inventory! I won’t say it if you don’t.
Redstone
Ah, Redstone! In my experience, it’s hard to learn and even harder to master – but it’s worth it! This purple element can transmit signals between different components to create various automations, such as Steve’s mine cart system from the trailer. Using Redstone is one of the most technically demanding skills to master in the game, but it opens up a world of possibilities in terms of both functionality and creativity. Minecraft Players have used redstone to create fireworks shows, automate resource farms, and even build real computers in them Minecraft…then played games on them! I wasn’t kidding when I said you could put almost anything in it Minecraft.
I hope this brief insight helped you understand a bit more about how to do this Minecraft works and why Steve longs for the mines. But that Minecraft The universe is literally endless and I’ve barely scratched its pixelated surface – so why not grab a virtual pickaxe and see what secrets you can discover for yourself? There’s still plenty of time to practice before “A Minecraft Movie” hits theaters on April 4th!
