Our file is drawing to a close. Let’s take a quick look at the last seven titles from the ID @ Xbox Game Demo Fest.
Super offroad toy cars
Continuation or spin-off of the two predecessors Super toy cars, this opus with the title “Offroad” does not renew the concept. Rather, it’s based on what it’s learned. Arcade racing game MicromachinesWithout the top view, he still suffers from a major flaw: his camera. The latter follows your car, but with a rather annoying delay. Otherwise, the title is quite pleasant, but don’t expect a revolution. If all you can do with the demo is to start quick games, the content seems to be there, with lots of championships to complete.

The hunt for Ellen
Pretty nice, The hunt for Ellen However, technically it is clearly picking up speed. Between pops, slows, and a character walking through objects, getting into the bathtub is difficult. Granted, a demo doesn’t reflect the final quality of the product, but that preview is still pretty worrying. Not to mention the inability to reverse camera controls or the tutorial that only shows the PC buttons! Let’s not talk about the handling and the catastrophic and very imprecise fights either. As it stands, it’s hard to have fun with this action / platform game with a promising universe.

The darkest stories
A very special aesthetic for this title. Remind me a little Little nightmare for its dark side, it did not leave me indifferent. The hero is a teddy bear who has to survive in gruesome levels and has to face fearsome enemies. Action / platform with elements of RPG (skills and equipment) and Metroidvania (ability to teleport between multiple locations). A very nice discovery, unfortunately clouded by many bugs. Of course, this is just a demo and most of the technical issues will be fixed when the title is released. At least that’s what I hope.

The gardener and the wild vines
First off, I couldn’t get very far in the demo due to a recurring freeze. If such a technical problem should be put into perspective for games in development, The gardener and the wild vines was released in early November. At least next. Nevertheless, I was able to identify an interesting potential for this platform title in 2.5D. Why 2.5? It’s very simple, your character evolves on a single layer but in a 3D environment. In this case, in the demo, he will try to climb a tower by moving around it. Add to that the ability to “bloom” platforms (that’s a gardener for a reason) and we get a pretty original concept.

The last oricru
Reserved exclusively for Xbox Series X | S, The last oricru tries to ride the wave of Dark Souls by opting for a very advanced RPG site. The graphics are pretty good for an AA. Unfortunately, the user interface is not very ergonomic and the increased level of difficulty puts a strain on the whole thing. Note that it is, however, possible to activate an “easy” mode. Storyline, your character wears a magical belt that brings him to life with every death. And something tells me he’s going to need it badly. Unfortunately, since I’m not a fan of the genre, I didn’t dwell on the title any longer.

Already available for purchase, Treasures of the Aegean Use the Winter Festival to talk a little about him. Its “comic book” aesthetic will remind some of you of the famous ones Comix zone

What is in the multiverse
Again, we have a 2D platformer, but this time it gives the story a place of honor with a touch of successful humor. Without going into details, you are playing as a young man who has the ability to move between dimensions. From this premise, many little puzzles must be solved with this power in order to hope for progress. If the gameplay stays simple in the end, it’s mostly its scenario that seems to stand out. What is in the multiverse is slated for early 2022 in the hope that gameplay will be refreshed along the way, at the risk of it repeating itself quickly.
