Ninja Gaiden 4 is being built in collaboration with Team Ninja and Platinumgames. The idea of bringing the two studios together came from Xbox boss Phil Spencer, as Team Ninja Producer Fumihiko Yasuda told in an interview.

“However, it was difficult for us to choose a plan. Then the president of [Team Ninja-Muttergesellschaft] Koei Tecmo, Hisashi Koinuma, and the President of Platinumgames, Atsushi Inaba, who come from the same generation and are good friends, the opportunity to discuss the matter. ”
“Afterwards Phil Spencer from Microsoft suggested that the three companies-Platinumgames, Koei Tecmo and Microsoft-should work together on a new, numbered title of the Ninja Gaiderie series, and so the project was launched.”
“We developed action games ourselves, but since we wanted to make a new ninja gaiden for the first time in over a decade, Platinumgames already had a number of great action titles such as Bayonetta and Nier: Automata, so we wanted to work with them, and such The collaboration started. “
Previously, Phil Spencer told in conversation with Goalthat the plans for a return of Ninja Gaiden were eight years ago. At that time Spencer made several trips to Japan.
