The second season of Halo Infinite multiplayer is already upon us, and today, two days after its release, we can say that it is a big step forward for the future of the game. We are before the start of the “Lone Wolves” season, where we will be the protagonists of a new story in the Halo Infinite multiplayer; in this case, we had a first contact with an AI banished by the name of Iratus, which will put our Spartans in difficulty in a fight never before seen in a game of the saga.
In this second season, two new cards have been added (Catalyst and Circuit Breaker)3 new game modes (Landgrab, King of the Hill and Last Stand Spartan), story events, a new battle pass, and more. With this update not only came playable content and aesthetics, there were also several gameplay changes that generated quite a bit of controversy. Now, this is just the start of a lot of content that will be coming over the next 6 months, which is how long this season of Halo Infinite will last.
the new cards
The two new maps that arrived this season are the clear example that the essence of Halo has not been lost. Both Breaker and Catalyst serve a purpose in the overall narrative of the update, with Breaker being the Big Team Battle match map fully adapted to the new Last Spartan Standing game mode and Catalyst being a complement to the arena maps we we all already know. .from HaloInfinite.

Breaker is set in a former banished colony where war materials have been mined and recycled, the map has a circular structure with a fairly large width at its center; does not seem to have adaptability for vehicles, so its priority is to host a single game mode. On the other hand, Catalyst takes place in an abandoned and dilapidated Forerunner structure, its structure is quite conventional, reminiscent of multiplayer maps 3-Way Halo 3. The cards do their job, even so, the fact that there are only two ends up disappointing a little, especially since we will have 6 months without new additions of the style.

New game modes for Halo Infinite, a breath of fresh air
Over the past season, we were able to take advantage of additions such as Tactical Assassin and Attrition, so we can understand that game mode development is easier for 343 than maps or bug fixes. In this case, the three new game modes are wonderfulbringing back King of the Hill, a classic experience we all love, plus with the system of cards and rotations, the game turns into an endless frenetic battle.
Landgrab, however, goes a bit unnoticed as it’s a way to capture areas very similar to others that were already running in multiplayer. This mode is not spatially different or with a very marked differentiator so it is worth dwelling on how it works.
Finally we have the star of this update, Last Spartan Standing is a brand new game mode for the entire Halo saga that has divided player opinion. On the one hand, we can say that it is a completely addictive game mode and that it presents completely new mechanics when it comes to Halo Infinite multiplayer, also being a means that can be projected to continue to grow and forge as a protege of 343.
But, on the other hand, things are not going well at all; It's a risky game mode that completely breaks with the rhythm of conventional games. Camping is almost necessary and can get frustrating at times. It is true that barely two days have passed since the release of this mode in Halo Infinite, but the lack of content and its tendency to be repetitive can be a factor that makes this addition repetitive and forgettable.
A battle pass that fills us with hope
And yes, Halo Infinite is a free game that works as a service, for this reason it has paid components that may cause some inconvenience. ANDThis battle pass can be considered the best and most advanced stage by 343 create emotion and expectation among players; and it is not for less, since it is a battle pass with a lot of new and quality content. I can say that if last season it was worth paying, in this one there is no doubt that it will be a good investment for the future.
The battle pass can be divided into two parts, the free rewards and the premium pass. Starting with the free, the progress and the greatest reward that is given on this occasion is notorious, because at level 6 we have a set of armor, which was the most criticized of the previous one, its lack of free content. And it's not just the battle pass, because during the season there will be rift events that will always have free rewards for those who complete the challenges.
Moving on to the premium battle pass, I can say that this is a pass worth investing in, not only for the cosmetic rewards it has, also because 1000 credits are given there in totalwhat would be enough for you buy various things in the store or the battle pass of the third season totally free. It's definitely a big step forward in motivating players to play and stay active in multiplayer. It should be noted that last season's battle pass can continue to be completed if you own the premium version.
By the way, nobody likes the fact that the armor goes through predefined groups. We all want free customization!

As for the challenges, I must say that they remain the same as before, even with the same mistakes. In this aspect, there is not much room for improvement yet, considering that there are some totally crazy challenges that require you to play more to complete them.
Narrative events in multiplayer
Lone Wolves has been quite surprising with this new addition, so far we've only seen a few cutscenes that point to a story where we will fight against Iratus, an AI outcast it will make life impossible for us on the battlefield of Halo Infinite. What we can expect is that as the season progresses we will have more cutscenes and maybe a special mission to play alone or with friends.

Comments, bugs and future of the game
On this occasion we cannot ignore the large number of errors with which this new season has arrived, the loading problems, the visual bugs and the constant struggle with the validation of the challenges make the experience a bit spotty; Fortunately, 343 took care of many of these issues and optimized many of them in just two days.
From now on we just have to play and grow with the game, the season is long, so we will have time to complete the battle pass, win a match in Last Spartan Standing and learn the story of our Spartan against Iratus. It is important that as a community we support 343 with constructive feedback on what we would like to improve, with this we will build the Halo Infinite we all want, see you soon in the Spartan Arena!
