If you are one of the fans of The Witcher series, you are probably eager to know more about the upcoming game from CD Projekt RED. The Witcher 4 reveal at The Game Awards generated a lot of conversation, and while the development team didn't delve too deeply into the story, some interesting clues were revealed. One of the biggest questions is how the story of Ciri, the new protagonist, will unfold after the events of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt.
Executive producer Małgorzata Mitręga spoke with GamesRadar regarding the team's concerns regarding Ciri's overwhelming power at the end of the previous match. According to Mitręga, “something totally happened between» both games, allowing the team to bridge the gap between their complete mastery at the end of The Witcher 3 and their new skill set in The Witcher 4. This suggests that there will be a significant jump in the story and that the team had to work to create a cohesive narrative that respects the history of the series.
Ciri will have her own fighting style
As for how Ciri will play in relation to Geralt, Mitręga mentioned that it is “faster, more agile, but we can still say that she was raised by Geralt“. This suggests that Ciri will have a unique playstyle, but one that will also reflect her connection with Geralt. Additionally, the spell used in the trailer was confirmed to be called Bolt, suggesting that Ciri will have more advanced magical abilities than Geralt.
Game director Sebastian Kalemba previously mentioned that the game would offer “more tools for player layout“, which could allow players to specialize in magic or martial skills, according to your preferences.
