With the Indie Box, the entire XboxSquad editorial team offers you mini reviews of very little known or featured indie games. While some don’t deserve to step out of the shadows of the Xbox Marketplace, others might be worth a look. That is the whole subject of this section.
Fran Bow, 11, is an ordinary little girl growing up in an ordinary family until her parents are murdered in a particularly dirty way. The young girl is then admitted to a psychiatric clinic to receive the help she needs to overcome her trauma. Far from caring about him, the staff is careless and even abusive. She then has only one idea: to flee to find her beloved cat and her aunt, who she hopes can take her home. As if she wanted to escape the madness of the world, Fran quickly loses all contact with reality and falls into madness herself. Then a journey into the depths of his tormented mind begins.
Alternately naive or mature, poetic or sombre Fran Bow causes some discomfort and is aimed at an informed public. While the point & click aspect is more classic, the topics addressed are significantly less so. Topics such as mental disorders, sexual harassment and self-mutilation are discussed. As far as violence is concerned, it is not only implied, but also clearly represented by hectolitres of blood.
Although I’m not normally a huge horror fan, I enjoyed it Fran Bow for’originality of his story and because the However, the disturbing side is mitigated by the “children’s book” aspect.
I appreciated the following:
- Good quality point and click
- User interface and subtitles in French
- Maturity of the topics covered
- Children’s book look
- I didn’t even jump ^^
