flares is an atmospheric action-adventure game with fluid combat and a complicated world full of mysteries. You are a tiny, growing light seeking transcendence.
Face huge creatures turned rogue, deformed by their emotions but still feeling familiar, unravel the story of your newborn light on his mystical lifelong journey and explore wild nature and ruins as your inner demons try to slow your progress hinder.
The main themes and history of flares
flares is a poetic and dreamy interpretation of the journey that reduces life to its essential components. It’s also an ode to resilience: you witness emotions in others that have gone too far and become destructive. And it’s about facing those difficult battles, but hoping to unravel and settle them rather than destroy them, and grow in the process.
We intentionally didn’t include any text or dialogue in the game to allow players to create their own interpretations. This freedom of appropriation is fundamental for us to experience something unforgettable.
What we look forward to the most when players can enjoy Strayed Lights
We look forward to players discovering and immersing themselves in the world we have created, meeting the characters we have designed, and enjoying the combat and the game as a whole. We are also interested in how you will interpret the game’s story, events and message through your own prism.
What players can expect from Strayed Lights
An innovative combat system designed to allow most players to experience those moments of bliss and satisfying flow that comes from challenge. But also a complicated world and story based on emotions that everyone can identify with and feel connected to. Overall a unique experience and a sense of wonder.
What it was like to develop flares for embers
An incredible experience, a long-cherished dream that is becoming reality. We put our heart and soul into this first game and everyone at Embers is very proud of the result. We have developed unique processes and techniques that allow our small team to achieve so much content and quality in the tiny amount of time it took to create the game, and overcome challenges with people we enjoy working with every day . We hope this shows when flares launches on Xbox this year!
