in the JukeXboxfind the original soundtracks of Xbox games that the team tagged XboxSquad. This week it is Me_t inviting us to take a walk in the City of Lights. More of a hike …
Few games are the perfect amalgamation of artistic direction and soundtrack. Night call Is one of them. As repetitive and uninviting as the gameplay is, the production by Monkey Moon and BlackMuffin Studio manages to add a lot of emoti ons with the compositions created by Corentin Brasart as the main advantage. From the introduction to the conclusion, the French composer follows the path of an attacked, frightened and threatened man who nevertheless wants to continue his daily life. End-to-end success. A few words about some excerpts that particularly struck me.
introduction – A dull noise, percussions and a few notes that translate the heartbeat of our taxi driver. The man just collapsed. The first minutes of Night call Set the tone and create an atmosphere of black investigation where the city of light, Paris, serves as a playground. This introduction immediately leads the player into a unique narrative adventure, punctuated by meetings and long nights and, most importantly, by a soundtrack that adapts to every moment. Regardless of whether the moment is scary or more relaxing, Corentin Brasart will keep us feeling the whole game.
Busset calling – And when the phone starts ringing and the discussion turns into negotiations, the music becomes tense and the vibrations become more intense. Agent Busset knows how to put pressure on our driver, who is overwhelmed by the events. She will only call you to offer you markets to your disadvantage and threaten you while giving you a way out. A mix of hope and stress that emerges well from this musical extract.
L.ong nights and Drive through Paris – But the heart of the game revolves around the aggression that you are the victim of. The starting point is simple. Investigate and search Paris for clues that can help identify your executioner. This includes conversations with the various passengers you can serve during your work night. These two pieces will highlight your evenings and your bedtime. The atmosphere should be more relaxed in moments of driving, provided that your passenger is not aggressive. These excerpts will reflect quieter moments and quieter discussions. These pieces will keep you calm during your long runs.
dusk – Finally a huge crush on this powerful title that will back up your investigation and complete your trip to Paris. For me the best moment of this adventure and the climax of this masterfully produced soundtrack. None of my words could translate what I felt with headphones on when I hit the play button.
I will give you a few minutes to collect yours, gently place them on your head, and let yourself be carried away by those 100 minutes of happiness between freezing fear and constant hope.
We’ll meet again next week for an episode dedicated Sayonara Wild Hearts.
