Kingdom Come Deliverance II Impressions

Deliverance, impressions, Kingdom

We've already played Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 for a few hours, and we can tell you about our first steps through the Kingdom of Bohemia

I think everyone had the same reaction when they saw the first trailer for Kingdom Come Deliverance II. This mix of epic, with a well-crafted story and incredible visual aspect has caught the attention of many players. Among them, me of course. Today, months after this video, we have the pleasure of telling you what it feels like to visit the places that make up the Kingdom of Bohemia. Ready to learn more about Henry's fate?

A medieval story

War Horse Studios with Plaion are happy to provide us with direct footage of the first iteration. It's not strictly necessary to play your first game, but it will help you get to know your protagonist and their personal desires a little more. Yes my friends, we will continue to control Harry, even though he will no longer be the inexperienced peasant we once knew. He is now the faithful companion of Sir Hans Capon, and in the first part of Kingdom Come Deliverance II we will have to accompany him on a diplomatic mission. As expected, things go wrong along the way.

Even if it is too early to draw a definitive assessment, we can talk about the first hours of our departure. Although the playable base is based on the foundations of the first part, everything is much more dynamic, optimized and fluid. More direct conversations, sequences very well managed with the game engine up to very enjoyable fights. Many aspects invite you to continue the adventure. If we go into detail, there are a thousand things to do, but the slow presentation of all the actions avoids getting overwhelmed.

Fortune favors those who dare

Although this is a title that extols early 15th century realism, it is not as detailed as we saw in the first Kingdom Come Deliverance. The studio has learned from its mistakes, and even if Henry suffers an accident and his stats force us to start from scratch, His skills in melee or with long-range weapons are not that… clumsy. Through a first-person camera we will have to perform swords, dodges and counterattacks on different parts of the body. Far from being complex or inaccurate as for example in Chivalry 2it was very gratifying to me, let's stick with whatever the weapon is.

Despite all the benefits that Warhorse Studios' work offers, it must be said that it is off to a slow start. To be enjoyed without haste and soak up the traditions that spread throughout Bohemia. This also involves knowing the menus, the interface and even knowing the inventory system, which without a doubt for me, can be the most confusing part. It is not enough to simply put on armor, but you must first equip yourself with padded breastplates so as not to get hurt during movements. Everything is taken care of in detail. Even if we are dirty or ragged, we will attract more attention than if we are well dressed or smell good.

A thriving environment

I still remember in Kingdom Come Deliverance the temporal precision that the studio demanded with its work (and which led to so much controversy), and here we have the same thing. All the characters seem completely immersed in their roles, without anyone being designed in an exaggerated way to emphasize their actions. Of course, just because it's realistic doesn't mean there are comical scenes or…somewhat bizarre missions. Everything is completely balanced so that we follow a revenge story while having fun with lighter activities.

Where I noticed a sudden change was in its graphics. It looks spectacular, with landscapes full of nature and very different from each other. The hermit's hut that we will visit, the towns that we will visit, its forests… everything is incredible and fully immerses you in these medieval places. The only thing that still bothers me is certain facial expressions when we start a conversation, even if it's nothing serious. By the way, speaking of immersing yourself in the gaming world, It will be fully dubbed in Spanish, aspect for which we greatly appreciate the study here.

We will continue on foot or on horseback through Bohemia

I can tell you a little more. It is still early to offer an analysis as such, because after 7-8 hours I'm still learning new things like alchemy, discovering new weapons or engaging in missions with villagers who engage me in new activities. And whatever I do, I accept everything because I really have the impression of being a person living in this very classic temporality, where injustices, prejudices and problems arise both unnaturally and very funny. On February 4, it's your turn to undertake a unique ode.
